Current T.V Addiction: Can You Hear My Heart?

So what is this T.V Addict losing sleep over you say? Well, let me tell you...

At the moment I am addicted to a South Korean T.V show/drama called  Can You Hear My Heart?

Thoughts so far:
It's CUTE. It's like a rom com with quite a bit of family drama thrown in. To be honest with you, I hate family drama. I just don't give a care for it and often fast forward it. Not too much that I don't know what's going on, but enough that I'm not bored. My favorite parts are the love story bits. Boy, do South Korean T.V show writers know how to create an addicting love story & a sad one at that. I'm on episode  9 out of the current 16 (in total there will be 30!!!) and wow episode 8 made me CRY. Now here's something you need to know about me. I, Lisette, do NOT cry. Okay I have a few times for movies, but almost never.. I don't know if it's a tear duct problem or what, but I just hardly ever do it, unless I'm laughing. So far I've been able to hold back tears, but Can You Hear My Heart? got to me. So far it's had it's immensely adorable moments, but just be aware that it also has sad moments. I think one of the best things about the show is that it starts of giving you a lot of background information on most of the main characters. The audience is introduced to them while they're kids and then after about 6 episodes, we see them in their 20's. As a viewer, you really get a sense that you know them. I love that. Character development at its best.
I'd like to note that one of the relationships is REALLY creepy. In real life that dude would most likely have some serious psychological issues. Anyway, back to the show. It's cute. Watch it along with me? :D Trust me, you'll like it if you like rom coms or romantic YA. It'll completely turn you into a screaming/crying/insane fan girl. You know how Justin Beiber fans are? Yeah, that'll be you after seeing these type of T.V shows. They are just too cute, they make you all bubbly and giddy inside.

Where I'm watching it:

Ep Drama
Kimchi Drama (I love their name. What they basically mean is hot drama).

If you need other websites, just send me an e-mail and I'll help you out ;)

Here's their main site.

Dream Thursday: save the teddy bears!

Recently I had the following dream. Sadly, I can only remember a small bit, but I must say, it is entertaining nonetheless.

I was in the back of a large moving truck, the kind that helps folks move their large amount of stuff someplace or other. It was a quite the scary ride because I was in the middle of a life or death situation. You see, I was the savior (or supposed to be) of a large amount of teddy bears. Yes, I did say teddy bears. They apparently had souls and a mean entity (can't remember what it looked like, but it was huge and menacing) was trying to destroy the poor helpless teddy bears. As I was only human, I had a tough time saving them, and could not really do much for them. I remember desperately holding three teddy bears close to me. One that was larger than me was to my left and the other foot high (or so) ones where to my left. Those two were so tiny! They never had a chance. I remember there was a brave little one that sacrificed himself. I don't know if he/she/it did it for me, but they ended up being killed.

That's all I recall.

Reasoning:

  • I probably dreamed about teddy bears with souls because before having dreamed that I had re-watched The Last Mimzy. You guys should watch it if you haven't already. Magical, but far too short, and had so much potential to be better.

Feel free to share your recent crazy dreams.

Enclave by Ann Aguirre // Book Review

Enclave
Rating: 4.5/5; Really enjoyable. Re-readable.

Release date: April 12, 2011

Series: Razorland #1

Synopsis:
WELCOME TO THE APOCALYPSE In Deuce's world, people earn the right to a name only if they survive their first fifteen years. By that point, each unnamed 'brat' has trained into one of three groups-Breeders, Builders, or Hunters, identifiable by the number of scars they bear on their arms. Deuce has wanted to be a Huntress for as long as she can remember.

As a Huntress, her purpose is clear--to brave the dangerous tunnels outside the enclave and bring back meat to feed the group while evading ferocious monsters known as Freaks. She's worked toward this goal her whole life, and nothing's going to stop her, not even a beautiful, brooding Hunter named Fade. When the mysterious boy becomes her partner, Deuce's troubles are just beginning.

-Edited from Publisher

Thoughts:
Oh this one was really fun! Recommended especially one a lazy summer day. The action, apocalypse, zombies, and bit of romance will keep you enthralled until 3 in the morning. Or was that just me? Advice: Do not start reading this book when you should be studying for finals because it will take quite the lot of will power to stop.
Our heroine, the love interest, the world, and everything in between are very fascinating. I especially loved how Deuce and Fade are so realistic. They both have their flaws and that makes them stand out all the more. The romance does not come out of nowhere, which I always appreciate. It is just the type of dystopian novel you would want to pick up on your next trip to the library or the bookstore. Deuce, our protagonist, lives in a post-apocalyptic world in which all she knows is what is told to her down in the underground tunnels where she and her enclave have been living. Sadly, it's not much of a life. For one, it's short (life expectancy is in its early 20's), has some eye brow raising rules, and it is dangerous. All she knows is darkness since she has never been above ground (it's called Topside). Never seen the sun, never seen people outside her enclave, never experienced most of what we get to thankfully experience everyday. The zombies (called Freaks by her people) she has been trained to kill are changing their ways, which is making everything much more difficult. All the while, questions keep making her wonder about the kind of people running her enclave.
The action, suspense, and fight scenes really pick up towards the end, especially around the last part of the book. I was unable to put the book down and every time I had to (for human reasons ugh), it was terrible because all I could think about was the curiosity about what would happen next. It's a great feeling when reading a book.
A few downsides to this book were that I did not love not knowing what happens to one of the characters. Numerous pages go by and we still are left not knowing. It's unfortunate that we will have to wait until the next book. I guess I'm just being picky. I also wished to know more information about the main characters. I MUST know more background information about how they became the way they did. I sure hope this is explained in the second book, because if not, I will be an unhappy camper. The first part of the book was also a bit slow for me, but honestly, that did not last because the pace picked up very quickly and stayed that way. I believe that what bothered me the most about this story was that we are never actually told when this is taking place. Maybe we will know in the second book. I sure hope so.

Enjoy!

Love It: the funny things a ten year old writes

A while back a 10 year old cousin of mine wrote some things while I was babysitting her and her 5 year old sister. It's so hilarious so I thought I'd share.

"MY DAY BY DAY STORY...

Lisette is pretty weird most of the time.

But I guessI have to be nice to her because she's taking care of me and all.

We're at my house right now (by we're I mean me,gabby, and Lisette) because my mom and dad are working.

Right now she's sleeping because I said that she can sleep until 9:15 and right now its 9:08 so she has a few more minutes… o wait her phone just vibrated…she ignored it.

And my sister is in her room right now playing with her dollies.  I know that because I can hear her talking all the way over here…lisette's texting now…I   am not going to give her make up minutes… she just told me that my mom liked the waffles that liz made yesterday…now she's in gabby's room…now gabby's hiding from liz… now were going to eat some waffles… wait, liz has gabby on her back and she's running around in the living room… now there in the kitchen getting the waffles ready but only liz gabby's in her room playing dollies.

Now there in the live room throng pillows at each other while liz is heating up the waffles.  now i have to go wash my hands so I  can go eat.  brb in a sec.

were eating at the table.

now were done eating and me and liz are waiting for some show in korian to load…and she's busy texting her friend daisy. the drama is pretty interesting because some guy is being kidnaped by some people this guy sent…i'm to tired to explain because it takes to muck typing.now we are having some technical difficulties because it doesn't want to play!!! uhhhhhhh!!!!! now its frozen and i only have 2 more hours until the Ellen show. that girl is hilarious!!!

i just fond out that i can't print this out!!!! the printer has to be in Stalled!!! sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo sad!!!

now gabby and lisette are rearranging stuff on the frig and liz called gabby a goof ball… like i said before, lisette is pretty weird…

right now me and gabby are watching ELMO'S CHRISTMAS COUNTDOWN…i know i know...

S COUNTDOWN…i know i know….well we have a few moor minutes until Ellen its 11:22!!!

i'm watching ELLENS 1200TH SHOW!!! THAT GIRL IS HILARIOUS!!!

NOW WERE GOING TO EAT QUESADIAS WHILE WE WATCH ELLEN!!! theres 2 11 year olds singing to one of michel jackson's songs…commercial…
now theres some guy on talking about his show…commercial…
now Mario Lopez is on talking about his baby and his girlfriend and his gf and his baby girl are on the show his baby girl is soooooo cute…commercial…

now were eating quesadias for lunch…

now were watching Ellen while eating and some lady is on talking her hard times and she's giving her a new car and 10,000 dollars…commercial… now Ellen is over and were watching days of our lives and some girl punched another girl because of something she said and the girl who got punched picked up a teddy bear and started hitting her with it!!! hehehehehe!!!…

lisette is really mean!!! i accidentally hit her boob and she got all upset and yelled at me!!!

now i'm watching tangled… if it plays!!! i am having some techno diffs over here!!!

WHILE I WAS WATCHING TANGLED SOMETHING POPED UP DURRING THE KISSING SEEN!!! NOW I HAVE TO WAIT 30 MINUTES!!!

my moms home and i propably am going to get off soon…
time to eat taco cabana

today is lize's last day taking care of us because tomorrow she has to go to Galveston.

finished food, lisette in shower (cause she hasn't in 3 hole days!!!) mom watching without a trace, and gabbys watching potty training elmo (even though she's already potty trained) but dads not home yet..."

She's so funny. I love how she says she won't give me make up minutes haha I took a ten minute nap because I was so sleepy. I have a bit of insomnia and the previous night I didn't get much sleep. Yes, I apologized for yelling at her, but gosh she drives me crazy sometimes! She does certain things accidentally-on-purpose (and she knows it). It tends to be things like hitting people so that's the frustrating part. And yes, she is exaggerating about me not showering for three days. I shower daily thankyouverymuch. That girl's such a drama queen, but I love her. Her little sister is also very funny. Throughout those two straight days I took care of them, she only wanted to watch Elmo. Sigh. Oh and I had made waffles for them! It was super duper. I made them with a waffle maker (I need to review it already!) I received for review by CSN stores. It's great, I love it and it makes waffles extremely quickly. I'm sad I can't make them from scratch, but oh well.

Oh and by the way, the Korean t.v show that Julissa is referring to was Secret Garden. So cute and romantic, you guys should check it out! When we were watching Tangled it hadn't been released yet and was not in theaters anymore so we saw it online with megaupload (I HATE how the message pops up saying you've watched too much video and for you to wait).

Bridesmaids (2011) // Movie Review

Rating: 5/5; Loved it! Add-to-your-collection worthy.

Release Date: May 13, 2011

Synopsis:
Lillian (Maya Rudolph) and Annie (Kristen Wiig) are best friends. When Annie finds out about Lillian's engagement, she is asked to be the maid of honor. She accepts and is happy until she finds out about all the things the maid of honor has to do. All hell breaks loose when they travel to Vegas for the party that none of them will forget…or remember!

Thoughts:
I must say the main reason I was convinced to watch this movie was because I read somewhere that this movie was the "girl version of The Hangover," which I thought was really fun and funny. I gotta tell ya, they're so right. WATCH IT!
Not only is it a romcom (how do you not love romcoms?), but overall, it's sincerely a fun movie. At the screening I went to, not only were the gals in the theater laughing their heads off, so were the guys. It really isn't just for the girls, it's for everyone (except kids since it's Rated-R). I'm telling you, it is so funny and if you are like me, you will literally have a hard time breathing. Here's some advice: do not go in there with a semi to full bladder. I know this is TMI, but I almost peed myself because I was laughing so hard. I also cried. No, it wasn't sad, it was just that funny. One of my favorite movies of 2011. Please go see it, love it, laugh.

Notes:
I loved these two particular actors that were in the movie. I now have the biggest crush on Chris O'Dowd (no, not just because he's Irish) who's on The IT Crowd (I'm so behind on this show it's shameful shhh don't tell anyone!) and also on Jon Hamm (Mad Men and recently Sucker Punch). Sigh. You'll recognize a lot of comedic actors, which just makes the movie that much more interesting. A bunch of people from The Office are in it probably because Paul Feig (creator of Freaks and Geeks) directed a lot of Office eps. The incredible Kristin Wigg is of course in it too. Gosh, she is just so darn awesome I love her because she always, always makes me laugh.

We All Fall Down by Nic Sheff // Book Review

We All Fall Down: Living with Addiction
Rating: 3/4; Okay read.

Release Date: April 5, 2011

Synopsis:
In his bestselling memoir Tweak, Nic Sheff took readers on an emotionally gripping roller-coaster ride through his days as a crystal meth and heroin addict. Now in this powerful follow-up about his continued efforts to stay clean, Nic writes candidly about eye-opening stays at rehab centers, devastating relapses, and hard-won realizations about what it means to be a young person living with addiction.

Thoughts:
I liked this book, but didn't find myself really enjoying it. I found it to be slow and couldn't bring myself to pick it up as soon as I set it down. I suppose I just wanted to know more about his life before he wrote his first book not his life as he was trying to finish it. I wanted to know more about him becoming addicted to drugs, his mental state, and this chick Zelda he keeps talking about. He talks about their relationship in this book, but I wanted to know more as she was a huge part of his life. Additionally, I feel as if I've missed out on knowing who Nic is because I didn't read Tweak so maybe that may help me understand him more. Not that it changes much about how I felt about this book. Admittedly, I do feel horrible for him. Poor guy managed to get a book deal which was his dream, but he was still unable to get clean.
A big irking factor for me was that I couldn't help but continue to think that Sheff was using Sue Ellen. He mentions that it's a possibility, but he could just be lying to himself again by making it sound less serious. He was hard to like as a human being and I understand it could be because of his addiction and another certain something (I'm avoiding spoilers), but I don't know. It's just hard for me to like a manipulating person and to stop feeling like he only wrote this book to avoid working. He should maybe try out different jobs until he finds something else. Maybe a writing workshop at a rehab center or something. *shrug* I haven't read Tweak, but I'll tell you right now I will read that book. As for this one, I keep feeling as if it was written just to be written without a real purpose.

I must say, I loved what was told to him in the end about girls. It's so true. He just needs to look. I also loved what he learned in the end. Many of us have a tough life, we just have to learn not to let the "fall" be so hard. I sincerely hope he really did learn and isn't lying as he tends to do. In real life I hope the author is able to be happy and drug free. There is so much more to life. :D

It really seems as if Nic Sheff's first book, Tweak, will be more about his life with living with addiction so I'm going to check that book out as soon as I can.

I'll Be There
Raised by an unstable father who keeps the family constantly on the move, Sam Border hasn't been in a classroom since the second grade. He's always been the rock for his younger brother Riddle, who stopped speaking long ago and instead makes sense of the world through his strange and intricate drawings. It's said that the two boys speak with one voice--and that voice is Sam's.
Then, Sam meets Emily Bell, and everything changes. The two share an immediate and intense attraction, and soon Sam and Riddle find themselves welcomed into the Bell's home. Faced with normalcy for the first time, they know it's too good to last.
Told from multiple perspectives, Holly Goldberg Sloan's debut novel offers readers fresh voices and a gripping story, with vivid glimpses into the lives of many unique characters. Nickel Plated
Nickel is a survivor. He has to be. For as long as he can remember, his life has hinged on the flip of a coin. Or, rather, the scribble of a social worker’s pen. He’s been through the system, even had a good dad for a few years, until he was gone, too. But Nickel remembers everything he taught him, and since the day he escaped from foster-care hell, he’s put that knowledge to good use. Just twelve years old, he makes a steady living by selling marijuana to high schoolers, blackmailing pedophiles he ferrets out online, and working as a private investigator. When a beautiful girl named Arrow hires him to find her little sister Shelby, Nickel figures at best the kid’s a runaway; at worst, some perv’s gotten a hold of her. He scours the internet and the streets of Arrow’s suburban neighborhood, and what he finds there is as ugly a truth as he’s ever seen. For beyond the manicured lawns, Nickel discovers children for sale, and adults with souls black as the devil. And people like that aren’t about to let some kid ruin their game. This edgy thriller introduces a canny, precocious anti-hero, the likes of which young-adult readers have never seen.

This dress (Forever 21 - sadly is now unavailable) is so lovely! I adore it! It's made a bit large, so I wear it with a belt. Sorry about the quality, but the iPhone cam is total krud.
A better view of the dress:

You may recognize these adorable Brazilian thrifted shoes from this past post. Outfit would have gone much better with heels I think, but I just had to wear it with these shoes!

No, I'm not educated in the comic books of Thor or even Captain America, but I still love all of these recent Marvel movies and I'm very, very excited for The Avengers (2012)! (Okay, I'll admit, I think Iron Man II needed some work.) Whenever I saw a poster or trailer for this movie I kept getting more and more excited because it looked so well done, and I'm happy to say that the complete film is just that. Well done, fun, amusing, and worth it.
Essentially the story is about family relationships and (highlight to view possible spoilers) gaining the sometimes much needed approval of a father. Of course, there's also that whole issue about keeping Earth safe. In this movie, the story is less about saving the world, but more about Thor's background and learning to become worthy of being the kind of person that is able to keep others safe. Thrown in are quite a number of FUN fight scenes on Earth and outside of it. When you see Thor's homeland, Asgard, just remember to breathe okay? Because it is breathtaking. At least it was for me. It made me really have faith people who work so hard for films such as this. In my opinion, they successfully managed to bring something straight out of the comic books onto the big screen. I watched this in 3D and I must state, it was actually a perk.
The only thing I can complain about is that the movie was so short! It was not enough for me. I wanted more more more! I suppose it is a relatively small complaint, but one nonetheless. I wanted more development on the relationship between Thor and the "mortal" played by Natalie Portman. Yes, I'm being partially biased because I'm such a romantic, but honestly, they had such a small amount of time onscreen.
As a sidenote, try and watch out for an amusing cameo by Stan Lee. He's the older gentleman driving the truck that tries to pull out Thor's hammer, Mjolnir.

**STAY AFTER THE CREDITS since there is a bit more to the movie**

Trailer (I would advise not to watch the trailer if you want to be even more entertained by the movie):

Enjoy & let me know what you thought!

Enclave by Ann Aguirre. For review. Ahhh exciiiiiited!!!

Enclave
New York City has been decimated by war and plague, and most of civilization has migrated to underground enclaves, where life expectancy is no more than the early 20's. When Deuce turns 15, she takes on her role as a Huntress, and is paired with Fade, a teenage Hunter who lived Topside as a young boy. When she and Fade discover that the neighboring enclave has been decimated by the tunnel monsters—or Freaks—who seem to be growing more organized, the elders refuse to listen to warnings. And when Deuce and Fade are exiled from the enclave, the girl born in darkness must survive in daylight, in the ruins of a city whose population has dwindled to a few dangerous gangs. As the two are guided by Fade’s long-ago memories, they face dangers, and feelings, unlike any they’ve ever known.

By the way, yesterday I saw an early screening of the movie Thor. Wooooow it was amazing and so well done!!! Watch it when it comes out in theaters in May 6 (this Friday). Review will be live tomorrow!
