Want to have:
Blankets by Craig Thompson
RD: 2003
Wrapped in the landscape of a blustery Wisconsin winter, Blankets explores the sibling rivalry of two brothers growing up in the isolated country, and the budding romance of two coming-of-age lovers. A tale of security and discovery, of playfulness and tragedy, of a fall from grace and the origins of faith.
This graphic novel sounds just like something I'd love. Can't wait to get my hands on it!
Crank by Ellen Hopkins -- and the rest of the series of course
RD: 2004
Kristina Georgia Snow is the perfect daughter: gifted high school junior, quiet, never any trouble. But on a trip to visit her absentee father, Kristina disappears and Bree takes her place. Bree is the exact opposite of Kristina -- she's fearless.
Through a boy, Bree meets the monster: crank. And what begins as a wild, ecstatic ride turns into a struggle through hell for her mind, her soul -- her life.
I've read Ellen Hopkins's Impulse and Burned and immediately fell in love with the stories. Heard great things about the Crank series so I want to start it. Badly.
The Emerald Talisman (Book #1) by Brenda Pandos
RD: March 2010
To be normal, sixteen-year-old Julia Parker would shed her empathic gift in a second. Life has been difficult since her mother's mysterious disappearance ten years earlier - an event she witnessed, but can't remember. Julia's situation becomes more complicated after a near death experience from a blood thirsty stalker. As high school students go missing it is clear there is a connection to her own experience--past and present. Someone has to stop the madness and a chance encounter with a creepy psychic foretells that only Julia is the key to stopping the madness, but it may require the life of the one she loves.
I've read good reviews on this one and can't wait to read it. Huge fan of love stories! Vampires used to be badass and now they're ...different, so for this one, we'll see.
Feeling Sorry for Celia by Jaclyn Moriarty
RD: 2002
A first novel of refreshingly original letters exchanged between teenage friends, refrigerator notes from a madcap mother, and darkly comic epistles from the heroine's internal voice of self-doubt.
The Association of Teenagers" is coming down pretty hard on Elizabeth Clarry. What is she to do when her best friend Celia keeps disappearing, her absent father suddenly reappears, and her communication with her mother consists entirely of wacky notes left on the refrigerator? And now, because her English teacher wants to rekindle the "Joy of the Envelope" in the "Age of the Internet," a complete and utter stranger knows more about Elizabeth than anyone else.
But Elizabeth is on the verge of some big changes. She is about to outgrow a friend, discover a great new friend, kiss the sexiest guy alive, and run in a marathon. Who needs "The Association of Teenagers" anyway?!
Jaclyn Moriarty's hilariously candid novel shows that the roller coaster ride of being a teenager is every bit as fun as it is harrowing.

Black-eyed Suzie by Susan Shaw
RD: 2007
Twelve-year-old Suzie needs to feel safe and worthy of love. Suzie's stay in a mental hospital helps her tear down the walls of a devastating psychological prison she calls "the box."
I love all stories having to do with mental illnesses/psychological disorders/mental hospitals. Can't wait to get the chance to read this. Hopefully after finals. *fingers crossed*
