Rating: 3/5; Okay read. Not a keeper, but still entertaining.
Release Date: June 1, 2010
Book 1 out of 3 (no release date has been set for the next books)
Synopsis:
My Name is Memory is about a guy who's soul has been around for hundreds of years. Throughout his many interesting lives he has come across the girl. He loves her and must find a way to be with her, unfortunately there is always something that keeps tearing them apart. Worst of all, she doesn't remember him like he remembers her.
Thoughts:
I was starting to really love the story especially since it has a lot to do with reincarnation (or a form of it) which I am extremely fascinated by. Unfortunately I found the premise itself to be more intriguing than the story itself.
Like the synopsis states, the guy is trying to find a way to be with the girl he loves. Daniel keeps his name throughout all the lives he has. When he first meets his love he kills her. You read that right. Don't get him wrong, he didn't do it on purpose, but it was an awful thing to do anyway. The next time Daniel meets her she is called Sophia. Boy isn't Daniel unlucky because he still can't get close enough to Sophia because she is married to his brother. In later lives - which I enjoyed reading about - Daniel still can't be with Sophia. At some point he pretty much gives up, but maybe there's hope for them.
While I was reading about the present life Sophia/Lucy and Daniel are living I could not put the book down and it was the only time I found myself turning pages like crazy especially when the two lovers make contact. Before then I just did not care. I also did not favor the end. The evil guy is a bit cookie cutter-like for my taste. I need my antagonists to be a little more unique.
Overall this one had its moments and kept me interested enough to want
to read the sequel (there will be three books in this apparent
series). I wouldn't read this book again though.
It should be noted that even though this book is listed as an adult book, it really is no different from a YA book. There is sex in the book but uh sex is in YA too.
