{Movie Review} How to Train Your Dragon

How to Train Your Dragon Original Movie Poster
Rating: 3.5/5; fun but not necessarily add-to-your-collection worthy.

Release Date: March 26, 2010 (this Friday!)

Synopsis:
A Viking teenager named Hiccup lives on the island of Berk, where fighting dragons is a way of life. The teen's smarts and offbeat sense of humor don't sit too well with his tribe or its chief... who just happens to be Hiccup's father. However, when Hiccup is included in Dragon Training with the other Viking teens, he sees his chance to prove he has what it takes to be a fighter. But when he encounters (and ultimately befriends) an injured dragon, his world is flipped upside down, and what started out as Hiccup's one shot to prove himself turns into an opportunity to set a new course for the future of the entire tribe.
Thoughts:
I got the chance to see this movie in 3D last Saturday and it was really entertaining, cute, and amusing. The creators did not pay much attention to the storyline. It was really lame and your typical story where the scrawny geeky kid feels unworthy and is trying to get the parent to love them because they believe that's not the case. Been done before and way better but the movie was still pretty fun. I don't particularly recommend you end up buying this movie but I still thought it was fun enough that I'd pay to watch it.

I recommend you go watch it if you're into kids movies that don't pay much attention to the story (or character development and love stories) but are still very fun and quite cute. BTW I really loved the flying scenes the whole atmosphere and scenery was beautiful it reminded me of The Incredibles when the family was in the island. You remember how visually pleasing that was? Well, you will feel the same way in certain parts of this movie. All in all it had it's moments (only because of the scenery and a bit of the comedy), but the story is really important to me so I didn't love it but like I said, it was really fun to watch anyway.

Note:
The guy who does the voice for the protagonist is Jay Baruchel who came out in She's Out of My League (check out my review) recently.

Nice review. This doesn't seem like my type of movie, but it seems like something that younger kids would get a kick out of.
