{Movie Review} Lost in Austen

Rating: 4/5 It's not incredibly made and thought out but it's extremely entertaining. Re-watchable. Worth buying the DVD (something hoping to do soon!).

Age R: PG-13

Watch it online at Netflix: Click here.

Synopsis:
Amanda Price is sick of the modern world. She yearns for the romance and elegance found in the books by her favorite author, Jane Austen. But she's about to get a rude awakening as one fateful evening, she is propelled into the scheming 19th century world of Pride and Prejudice while that book's Elizabeth Bennet is hurled into hers. As the book's familiar plot unfolds, Amanda triggers new romantic twists and turns within the Bennet family circle as she clumsily tries to help the sisters nab husbands and even captivates the tantalizing Mr. Darcy herself. But what about Elizabeth...and what will become of one of the world's greatest love stories?

Thoughts:
This is a romantic comedy about a
modern version of Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice.
I HIGHLY recommend it! It's so adorable I just loved it. That's not to say you won't shed a few tears because there were a few moments that were just heartbreaking.
It's 3 hours long because it was supposed to be a tv show but got canned. It's still worth the watch. Watch it on a day you feel gloomy because it will lift your spirits up. :)
There have been a number of people to comment that Lost in Austen got them extremely angry because it is so different from Jane Austen's original novel (one of my absolute favorite books). If you think that will bother you then don't watch it, or at least just give it a try but be warned that there are many different twists. I happene
d to like them, not love them like I do the novel, but I still really enjoyed watching it.
I liked watching Lost in Austen so much that I will buy the DVD in the future. I felt giddy like a freakin' fan girl after watching it and had a huge smile on my face throughout most of the movie. Hopefully many of you will feel the same way.
Now about that Mr. Darcy.
I was in love with him already because
he's just so awesome! This new Darcy is played by Elliot Cowan who's really really cute and seriously looks like the British version of Heath Ledger. I kid you not.
Still don't believe me? Then check out that pic because obviously I'm not the only one who thinks this.

Mr. Darcy from Lost in Austen, will not disappoint especially when he (unnecessarily but who cares?) ends up um, a little soaked. ;) Elliot Cowan's not the greatest actor in the world, but you know what? I still loved him.
Like I said, I really liked watching Lost in Austen, but there were some things that I did not care for. At times the movie could be HILARIOUS but other times it was just boring. Maybe I just feel that way because I didn't care much for two main characters that the movie mainly focuses on. Instead of focusing on Elizabeth Bennet and Mr. Darcy it focuses on two other completely different characters who I just don't give a potato about! Okay, I take that back. Partly. I cared about them but not nearly as much as I cared about Elizabeth Bennet and Mr. Darcy. That may be disappointing to many others not just me, I'm sure. It's still really cute and all though so maybe not too disappointing.
Anyhow, I'm sure you will all easily guess the predictable way Lost in Austen changes a large part of the story. I won't say what it is but I liked it. I don't prefer it to the original, but I liked it. By the last part of the movie the audience knows what is going to happen but it does not matter because the journey there is so cute, hysterical, and exciting.
Watch it!
