In My Mailbox---ah, more tv shows hehe

Thanks to The Story Siren and Alea for IMM! Don't forget to go to TSS for more IMM's!

TRADES:

From Swaptree.
Let the Right One In by John Ajvide Lindqvist --FINALLY! I have my hands on it! I've been wanting to read it for the longest time after watching the movie because I know there's a whole lot more to the story.

It is autumn 1981 when the inconceivable comes to Blackeberg, a suburb in Sweden. The body of a teenage boy is found, emptied of blood, the murder rumored to be part of a ritual killing.

Swaptree.
Into the Wild by Jon Krakauer --Very curious about the book. I saw the movie a while back and had to buy it and they both came on the same week!!
In April 1992, a young man from a well-to-do family hitchhiked to Alaska and walked alone into the wilderness north of Mt. McKinley. He had given $25,000 in savings to a charity, abandoned his car and most of his possessions, burned all the cash in his wallet and invented a life for himself. Four months later, his decomposed body was found by a moose hunter. Jon Krakauer brings Chris McCandless's uncompromising pilgrimage out of the shadows and illuminates it with meaning in this mesmerizing and heartbreaking tour de force.

Bought:

I am so in love with Emile Hirsch!!Into the Wild is writer/director Sean Penn's adaptation of the popular book by Jon Krakauer, a nonfiction account of the post-collegiate wanderings of a young Virginia man, who divorces himself from his friends, family, and possessions in search of a greater spiritual knowledge and communion with nature. Upon his 1990 graduation from Emory University in Atlanta, Christopher McCandless (Emile Hirsch) walks away from a loving if dysfunctional family and sends his nearly 25,000-dollar life savings to Oxfam International. Instead of the normal life his parents planned for him, Chris rechristens himself "Alexander Supertramp" and heads west in his beaten-up automobile until it no longer runs, at which point he takes up hitchhiking. The goal on the horizon? Alaska. By hook or by crook -- but without his limited cash, which he symbolically sets aflame -- Chris/Alexander determines to make it to his personal promised land, with stops along the way to experience America and its people. These adventures include a kayak trip down dangerous rapids, a gig working in a grain mill, extended stays with a hippie couple and a kindly old widower -- and enough cold, hunger, and exhaustion to leave him emotionally defeated more than once. Meanwhile, his parents (William Hurt and Marcia Gay Harden) and sister (Jena Malone) haven't received so much as a postcard from him, and begin to fear the worst.

Moonlight Complete series---Uh how could I say no to $16 bucks? Apparently it was on sale because not it's $19.99. If I'd have known I would have told you guys I'm sorry :( Ah, I miss Veronica Mars.

Any private eye knows a lot about other people's secrets. L.A. private eye Mick St. John (Alex O'Laughlin) has a secret of his own. He's a vampire, dwelling in a covert netherworld complicated by friendship with an undead finance honcho (Jason Dohring of Veronica Mars); memories of his alluring ex-wife (Shannyn Sossamon), who turned him into a vampire; and a relationship with a human (Sophia Myles) he feels drawn to protect -- and maybe to love. But no matter how tempting, Mick knows a vampire-human romance is eternally dangerous.

Gift:

Part of a gift from one of my best buddies. Got it last week but I forgot to put it on IMM. She knows how much I love facts and boy am I loving the book! I don't want it to end :(

Did you know that most toilets flush in E-flat? Or that American Airlines once saved $40,000 by removing a single olive from each salad served in first class? Well, now you will with this clever, fun, and occasionally shocking compendium of facts from around the world.

Organized into witty categories, including “Battle of the Sexes: Facts About Men and Women” and “The Past Is a Foreign Country: Facts About History,” You Are One-third Daffodil contains hundreds of weird and wacky facts, including:
*In Milan, it is a legal requirement to smile at all times, except during funerals or hospital visits.
*The most expensive age of your life is thirty-four.
*Cuba will lift its ban on toasters in 2010.
*Thomas Jefferson invented the swivel chair.
*The “zip” of zip code stands for “zone improvement plan.”
*Counting up from zero, and excluding the word “and,” the first number to contain the letter “a” is one thousand.
*There are an estimated 10,000 trillion ants on earth–roughly 1.6 million ants for each person. Their combined weight is equivalent to the weight of the entire human population.
*In the Second World War, every Italian soldier in North Africa carried his own personal espresso machine.

So go ahead, become the office Einstein (though did you know Einstein didn’t learn to read until he was ten?) or the cocktail party trivia star with You Are One-third Daffodil. The words “did you know?” will never sound the same again!

I had to read Into the Wild last year for school and to be honest, the most boring thing ever. The movie is alright though. The main actor is cute.
