Concerts and Tickets
At that site you can also find tickets for tons of other artists, comedians, sports, musicals, etc.
They have Harlem Globetrotters tickets! Isn't that crazy? Well not crazy, but I don't know. They're outfits are always... yeah hehe Click on their name to see what I mean and/or to find tickets near you. Oh man! They also have Jeff Dunham tickets! I've been sooo curious about seeing him for a while because of his new show on Comedy Central, but the turd is not touring in Houston. He's not even coming to Texas which I think is beyond STUPID because he was born here. A-butt. yeah that's a word! Well, he might not have a choice in the matter so I guess I could forgive that. He's a ventriloquist/comedian. I've never seen one before so that would be really cool.
They also have this thing where you can look at different vendors near you and see what's going on there then buy tickets. Like if you live in Minnesota you can get Metrodome tickets.
Yeah the site's pretty organized. :)
Happy Halloween!!
I am not sure I'm dressing up. I'm going to a haunted house with friends and trick or treating but I'm still not sure. This is a scheduled post btw I don't have a bunch of time lately so most of my posts are scheduled. Actually they're pretty much always scheduled.
Show me/email me pics of your costumes if you'd like! I'll try and post up a pic but only if I dress up. If I don't then maybe I'll show you a pic anyway ;) Yes the first picture I'll post of me. bwahahaha!
Have a GREAT day and be safe! Get lots of candy!

Breaking Benjamin

Oh man, I have such a huge crush on Ben. I would seriously jump his bones in a heartbeat.
Anyway we'll pretend you didn't read that.
Ehem
I was listening to their newest album, then I got to thinking about some of their older songs I love. I "discovered" them in 8th grade like in 2005 and since then I've liked their music quite a bit. I don't love all of it but there are a number of songs I love.
Some include:
Forget it
I also heard it on Smallville like last year and freaked! Awesome hehe
Diary of Jane
Skip to 0.33!! I don't like this vid so just look at that smile!
Did you see that?!! Did you?! That smile!! *swoons* Yes I just became a teenybopper that says swoon hehe I can't help it. I mean he's so yummy!!!! hehe ;)
I don't like that video bc I only like listening to them sing not others. Sorry ya'll. That's why at concerts I'm like eek sometimes when people are singing after I paid to hear someone I LOVE SING!!! Dorks.
Here's no people singing!
Song: Almost Lover by A Fine Frenzy
My absolute favorite song from her One Cell in the Sea album. Am really loving the new album btw :)
Dandy Books
Here are this week's picks:
Stoner and Spaz by Ron Koertge
RD: 2003
Interest: The reason I am interested in this one is because I LOVED Ron Koertge's writing in Margaux with an X. Check out my review here so you can see how much I freakin' loved that book! Seriously, it's one of my all time favorites. :)
Feed by M.T Anderson
RD: 2003 Interest: I bought this books about five years ago. It's still there.... I began reading it about two years ago then stopped because ugh. I'm thinking about giving it another shot. I'll have to try harder to keep reading it and see if I like it. I do understand how some book beginning suck but they can gradually get better or even awesome. I also have another M.T Anderson book, Thirst. I began that one too and it just sucked. I should maybe give it another shot. Both are for middle grade readers though so I'm not sure I'll like them now. Man I'm getting old! hehe
Teach Me by R.A Nelson
Teach Me invites readers inside an experience that fascinates everyone—an affair between a teacher and student—and gives an up-close-and-personal answer to the question: How does this happen?
The hardcover edition of Teach Me was a Booksense Fall 2006 Kid's Pick, a TeenReads.com Best Book of 2005, and a selection for the 2006 NYPL Books for the Teen Age.
Interest: It just sounds really interesting
Dare Truth or Promise by Paula Boock
RD: 2009
Interest: I read some mixed reviews on this one but I'm still really curious.
Have you guys read any of these? What did you think? Interested now?

Song: The Light Before We Land by The Delgados
Lyrics:
In cases such as these I'd like a hand
Don't wake me up without a master plan
With sight and sound becoming fragile
Don't you understand?
When things that once were beautiful
Are bland
And when I feel like I can feel once again
Let me stay awhile
Soak it in awhile
If we can hold on we can fix what is wrong
Buy a little time
For this head of me
Haven for us
In truth there is no better place to be
Than falling out of darkness still to see
Without a premonition
Could you tell me where we stand?
I'd hate to lose this light
Before we land
And when I feel like I can feel once again
Let me stay awhile
Soak it in awhile
If we can hold on we can fix what is wrong
Buy a little time
For this head of mine
Haven for us
Before we let euphoria
Convince us we are free
Remind us how we used to feel
Before when life was real
And when I feel like I can feel once again
Let me stay awhile
Soak it in awhile
If we can hold on we can fix what is wrong
Buy a little time
For this head of mine
Haven for us

Ben X (Movie Review)
Foreign Film (Belgium/Dutch)Rating: 5/5 Loved it!
Age R: pg-13 for partial nudity
Release Date: September 26, 2007/August 2008
Synopsis:
Ben is different and his life is a universe all unto itself. He has Asperger’s Syndrome, a mild form of autism that prevents normal communication, and while he is a courageous hero--BEN X--in the fantasy on-line gaming world that consumes him, in his daily life Ben is tormented by bullies and ignored by apathetic teachers. As the bullies’ relentless attacks push him over the edge and out of control, his on-line dream girl, Scarlite, appears to him and helps him devise a perfect plan to confront the bullies and make them pay for their torment.
Some background info:
Taken from a real-life tragedy -- which Belgian director Nic Balthazar first showcased in a book called Nothing is All He Said -- Ben X is the tale of a reclusive teen with a version of autism called Asperger's Syndrome.-source here
Awards:
Fipresci Prize
Grand Prix des Amériques
Most Popular Film
Prize of the Ecumenical Jury
Thoughts:
This movie was not absolutely perfect and there were a few things I didn't like. I can't remember what because you know what? It didn't matter. I loved this movie anyway. If you're looking for a feel happy movie um...this might not be it. It has its happy moments, but for the most part it has a melancholy mood to it and is just SO sad! The reason for this is because you feel so much for Ben. He goes through a lot of crap that you seriously want to cry at times, go hug him, and be his best friend.
This movie surprised me, especially that ending. The whole movie made me happy and sad at the same time. Crazy huh?
I highly recommend this movie. Trust me, you will not forget it even if you end up not liking it which I think will be difficult, but hey that's my opinion. :)
Notes:
Supposedly Ben is a teenager, but he looks nothing like a teenager. Maybe in his 20's.
Sweetness:
If you have Netflix, Ben X is available so you can watch it online instantly. I'm sorry for the rest of you :( But hopefully you can find it at a movie rental place or for a good price somewhere. :) You can get it for about $18 here on ebay, on Amazon for $22.49.
Quotes:
Ben-
It's hard to explain. It's hard to explain myself. But I never tell lies. Everything I say is true, even when I don't say a thing.

Soundtrack:
The soundtrack is great! I can't find it anywhere though :(
This song came out on it-

Ratings
I tend to not have whole numbers for my ratings. I just feel like sometimes they're not, for example, just a 3, they are a 3.6 or something. I give reasons on my reviews for why it's not as high as the full whole number above whatever it is I gave it. Not one book is perfect right?
1/ 5 starred books
2/ 5 starred books
3/ 5 starred books
4/ 5 starred books
Each link will take you to a comprehensive list that is constantly being updated as I post reviews. They also each tell you what I mean when I give a book a certain amount of stars. The movies I review will be in red.

Another Faust Guest Post!!!
**********
*Another* Another Faust Contest
Hi everyone. Dina and I are about to kick off a month-long tour for our book, Another Faust, and we want to do it by announcing a contest! We are looking for the most promising writers out there (that’s YOU). And then we want to showcase their work, so that all of the Internet can bask in their awesome writing might (and, you know, give them prizes).
HERE’S HOW IT GOES.
We want you to write your own short story, re-imagining of the Faustian Bargain. (For inspiration, check out Bedazzled, Simpsons “Tree House of Horrors IV,” and The Little Mermaid). It can be about anything you like (but let’s keep it PG-13, and under 3,000 words), and it’s open to everyone.
All you have to do is send your entry to dviergutz@gmail.com before January 31.
Rules and details can be found here:
http://www.danielanddina.com/site/2009/10/writing-contest-create-another-ano ther-faust/
Make sure to read them so you don’t get DQed
And the winner gets all kinds of sweetness:
A signed copy of Another Faust
A handwritten deleted scene
A featured article & interview on our site
An author’s galley of the sequel Another Pan
Though we’ll feature the top five on our site for comments, the judging WON’T happen by popular vote (so basically, we don't care which contestant has the most friends). Dina and I will personally read them.
So, spread the word! Tweet, retweet, forward, thread, spread, embed this post.
Good luck!
D&D
**********I hope you guys enter! I would but I am a terrible, terrible writer. I'm only pretty good at spelling and grammar but that's it as far as writing goes. ;) If you enter, good luck! :D

Thoughts:
It's a fun and entertaining movie. It had quite a number of funny moments (look for my favorite scene below). Worth paying for ticket, especially if you don't care for a strong performance or story. The screenplay, which the author of the books the movie is based on wasn't involved with, could have been so much better and so could the chemistry between pretty much all the characters. The protagonist mostly just seemed flat and unfeeling! I couldn't get over that. It all wasn't that real for me. Those actors need a few more lessons. That might not bother some people though. I really, really wish the story was better, I mean it had potential. The movie was just short and fast. Not fast paced per se, but everything happened quickly and not in a good way. It just jumped from point A to C and skimmed right through B. Didn't like that at all. Should have been longer and more action packed considering the circumstances. The story was just lame to me. I did kind of like the fight scenes though. They were okay. Could have been worse right?
If you're looking for a fun movie that will also make you laugh, go watch it. If you are very artsy and/or care a lot about having a great story with amazing acting, this movie is not for you or maybe you might just want tot wait to rent it.
Favorite scene *POSSIBLE SPOILERS*:
My favorite scene was where Darren and Larten (John C. Reilly) are talking about getting ready to turn Darren into a vamp at Darren's house. They're on the second floor outside his window and after Darren takes a drink of a numbing concoction Larten, while pointing to the night sky, says something like "Hey, uh, is that the big dipper or the little dipper? Sometimes I get them confused." As Darren turns around, Larten immediately reaches over, grabs Darren's neck, and breaks it, all in just seconds! It's so funny! He says "Sorry about that" even though Darren can't hear. Then says, "I'm also sorry for what I'm about to do next." He proceeds to through Darren off the roof in order to make it seem "real."
**end of possible spoilers**
Totally hilarious!
Favorite character:
Awww I LOOOOVED this little creature that appears. He's the one that bites people. hehe It's so cute! I really loved how it wanted Darren to hold its hand then it made this sad pouty face when Darren said no. hehe Adorable! But he did kinda scare me a bit when he bit people.
Soundtrack:
Right now I only know the song Asleep from Day by The Chemical Brothers (featuring Mazzy Star)
I'll update with more as soon as I know

Here are this week's picks:
At times impossible and at times irresistible, they write with devastating clarity about their pasts, their fears, their confusions, their regrets, and their hopes. They write about what led them to crime and to gangs, about love for their mothers and anger toward their (mostly absent) fathers, about guilt for the pain they have caused, and about what it is like to be facing life in prison at the age of seventeen. Most of all, they write about trying to find some reason to believe in themselves—and others—in spite of all that has gone wrong.
Surprising, charming, upsetting, enlightening, and ultimately hopeful—driven by the insight and humor of Salzman’s voice and by the intelligence, candor, and strength of his students, whose writing appears throughout the book—True Notebooks is itself a reward of the self-expression Mark Salzman teaches: a revelatory meditation on the process, power, and meaning of writing.
The gods grant immortality to the mermaid Sirena when she rescues a human man from the sea and they fall in love, but his mortality creates great conflict between love and honor when he is called to defend Greece in the Trojan War. When Scat comes up with the idea for the hottest new soda ever, he's sure he'll retire the next rich, savvy marketing success story. But in the treacherous waters of corporate America there are no sure things--and suddenly Scat has to save not only his idea but his yet-to-be-realized career. With the help of the scarily beautiful and brainy 6, he sets out on a mission to reclaim the fame and fortune that, time and again, eludes him.
This brilliantly scathing debut is a hilarious send-up of celebrity, sexual politics, corporate America, and the fleeting status that comes with getting to the table first--before the other guy has you for lunch.

"Scathingly funny." --Fort Worth Star Telegram

I hate being sick!! If any of you guys are sick too I hope you and I get better super soon. :'(
Because of school and work I haven't had a lot of time to read as you can tell from the very few book reviews I've written lately. So I'm sorry about that, I promise I'll try harder. I mean, I have time for movies but not for books?! Nonsense!

Me and one of my friends went to see Muse on October 14th!! Gosh THEY ARE AWESOME LIVE!!!!!!!!!!! They've come to Houston before but I could never go for one reason or another, mainly my mom and her pessimistic ways. She always thinks I'm gonna die so yeah... Yes, yes I know, crazy, but she's my mom and I still lover her like no other mom :)
Anywho
Oh Matthew Bellamy and his adorableness. Oh Dom and his adorable self and drummer skills. Chris doesn't count count because he's married hehehehe but she's still pretty darn cute ;) Is Matt not married yet? Curiouser and curiouser.
These are the lovely/freakin' awesome songs they performed:
Uprising
Supermassive Black Hole
Time is Running out
MK Ultra <---- My absolute favorite out of The Resistance album :)
Starlight
Undisclosed Desires
Map of the Problematique

I REALLY wanted them to perform Assassin, it's one of my all time favorite Muse songs, but they didn't :( I just really, really wanted to see that one live. Oh well. Maybe next time :D Matthew said they're coming next spring so woot!! Can't wait!! :) I bought a t-shirt I didn't want to take off hehehe

Where the Wild Things Are-Movie Review (TBR on October 16)

Rating: 4.7/5
Age R: PG
Release Date: October 16, 2009 (this Friday!)
Interest:
I became interested in this movie because I LOVED the book as a kid and the pics and trailer of the movie seemed incredible. I got the chance to watch it Monday at an advance screening! I also got a free poster woot! hehe I was too busy with work, school, etc to post an earlier review so sorry about that. :)
Synopsis:
Max, a rambunctious and sensitive boy feels misunderstood at home and escapes to where the Wild Things are. He lands on an island where he meets mysterious and strange creatures whose emotions are as wild and unpredictable as their actions. The Wild Things desperately long for a leader to guide them, just as Max longs for a kingdom to rule. When Max is crowned king, he promises to create a place where everyone will be happy. Max soon finds, though, that ruling his kingdom is not so easy and his relationships there prove to be more complicated than he originally thought.
As you all might already know, this movie is based on the book Where the Wild Things Are written by Maurice Sendak. Recently another book insipired by that one called Wild Things and written by Dave Eggers, was released. I put it on one of my Waiting on Wednesday posts here as you might remember. Gosh I really want to read it!
Thoughts:
It was incredible! The cinematography (yes the director, Spike Jonze is the creator/director of Jackass) was just lovely awww hehe so was the main character Max, played by Max Records. Isn't that cool? Same name! Max just wants some friends to play with and after being scolded by his mom (man, she says some awful things) he runs away and eventually finds his way to the land of the WILD THINGS. :) He first encounters Carol (voiced by Tony Soprano a.k.a James Gandolfini hehe I love the SOPRANOS!) who turns out to be a lot like Max. It's cute hehe He then meets the rest of the wild things. One of them is voiced by Paul Dano who I'm a huge fan of by the way. Max goes through so many adventures it's really amazing to watch. At times I must admit I was freakin' SCARED! You see this small, vulnerable, breakable boy on a huge screen, surrounded by tons of huge, strong, playful creatures. Most of the time when they were all running around and being wild, I got freaked out because it felt as if that boy would get crushed any second. Maybe I'm just a wuss though but be warned anyway.
You're going to get angry at Max's big sister, her friends, and her mom because man they could be harsh! Poor Max! I just wanted to pick him up, hug him, and play with him and his igloo. :'(
The movie overall was very fun to watch, albeit a bit scary like I said, it was also very serious at times especially the beginning and end. Some parts of the movie I could have done without because they were a bit boring but it didn't bother me a lot. I liked this movie so much I know I'm buying it in the future then watching over and over again. :) I just loved all the scenery so much I can't wait to watch it again. The atmosphere of it all is just great and gets your heart all warmed up. :D
