Concert Tickets

I seriously need cash :( I can't get a job (job places are too far to walk or ride bike to) until I get my license. I can't get my license because I'm scared of driving. My parents say that will go away with practice but I suck at staying in line. Sigh. Anywho. I need cash because I REALLY want to go see Muse live when they come to Houston in October. Sure they're opening for U2 who's only song I like is With or Without You but still. It's better than nothing. Gosh what I'd give to see Matthew Bellamy and Dom up close. Okay and Chris too hehe :) Heavy sigh. :D

So there's a website called acheapseat where you can buy tickets online. It's really neat. I've never bought tickets from there before but yeah you can if you want.

If you live or would be willing to travel to Pittsburgh, PA you might want to check this out: Post Gazette Pavilion Tickets

Gosh if only I could go see all those artists I want to see :( Well, maybe one of ya'll will be able to go.
Which artist/s would you like to see? They don't necessarily have to be from that list.

For me it's Muse, Radiohead, Belanova (I missed a concert w/ them by one week!! It sucks :( ), Cafe Tacuva (ditto), Dawn Landes, Iron & Wine, The Smiths (whatever man), Uh Huh Her, Azure Ray, Jim Sturgess (leave me alone hehe), Beck, The Delgados, Feist, Elvis Presley (I know, I know), Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova, Greg Laswell, Ingrid Michaelson, Pete Yorn, Keane (ahhh come to Texas please!! preferrably Houston hehe), Kalimba (sooo cute!), La Oreja de Van Gosh (yes the tranlation to their name's band is indeed The Ear of Van Gogh), Landon Pigg, Linda Rondstadt, Marie Digby, Missy Higgins, and sooo many more!
I could seriously go on forever.

So yeah, which ones would you like to see? He/she/they don't have to be touring. :)

Fade to Blue by Sean Beaudoin

Fade to BlueRating: 4/5
Age R: 13+
Release Date: August 1, 2009 (tomorrow!)
Synopsis:
Sophie Blue is just your average girl. Except for her father mysteriously disappearing. There's also that weird Popsicle truck that is kinda stalking her. Oh then there's also that friggin' impossible itch she keeps getting on her elbow.
Kenny Fade (pronounced Fa-Day) is a super popular basketball player. The complete opposite of Sophie.
It may seem like these two kids (teenagers actually hehe) have nothing in common. They are so wrong.
Thoughts:
Oh this book! I REALLY liked it. I hope there's a sequel in the works because I have not had enough. :)
If you're not a patient person this book will probably make you want to tear your hair out. I'm not saying this is a frustrating read, it's not, but there were times where you are left wondering "WTFruit is going on?" That's completely normal because the author is making you feel/think like Sophie and Kenny. They think that they are losing their minds and maybe they are. You will feel the same exact way, which I LOVED. It all comes together in the end in a very satisfying way. You are still left with quite a bit of questions though but still, neato!
Like I said in the synopsis, Sophie and Kenny have quite a bit in common. Reading about it all is simply awesome. Like me, you will be eager for more.
This book is not only awesome because of the incredibly mind-boggling writing and story but also because it talks about how our world is changing. How eventually our planet will be "so full of discarded junk there [will] be nowhere to sit". The whole book makes you think quite a bit about all kinds of things.
Remember how I said the writing and story is mind-boggling? Well it is. As you're reading it you feel like you're in a dream at times. It's very surreal which I've never experienced with a book before. It's amazing. :D
You will enjoy finding out why Sophie and Kenny feel like they are going crazy. It's truly interesting. You will also love the mini comic book/graphic novel in the middle of the book. This book has a bit of everything so I'm sure even the most reluctant reader will like it. :)
But remember, pay attention or you will get lost. Sometimes this book is like a maze. Be alert! I'll admit, even I (not like I'm a super awesome genius or anything) had to go back and re-read some parts or slow down and think. ;)
I liked this book so much I'd love to see it in movie form. That will definitely be something. Reminds me a bit of Donnie Darko (LOVE THAT MOVIE!) actually. :)
I wish I could say more about it but I really don't want to give away spoilers :D Go read it!

Quote/s:
In binary code you can replace the alphabet with eight-bit strands that stand for each character. Like, B is 01100010. It totally works. So, for instance, if this tool is hasling you at your locker, and you want to be all like, hey, tool, YOU SUCK, you just write an 0 on one palm and a 1 on the other, and then you open and close your hands real fast in fron of his face, flashing this message: 01000101 11101010 01011010 10001011 10100101 11101010 10001010 00101101.

Renob- Boner backwards, which is such a totally good thing to call your little brother in the station wagon all the way to Chuck E. Cheese's without your parents figuring out, at least until right when you pull in the parking lot and then Dad turns around and threatens not to let you play skee-ball and, worse than that, while busy pointing his big jabby finger, you're not even going to get a slice of plain cheese pie if you don't knock it the hell off, mister, like right now. Then, when you call your Dad a dawkcid, it's a whole month without the Xbox......

Extra:
Binary Code plays quite the part in the novel which is really neat. Here's a picture of a PostSecret from this week that used binary code. I thought it was pretty nifty that I saw it right after reading this book. :) Totally has nothing to do with the book but here it is:

It says:
I'm in love with two men. I'm not married to the better of the two.

So sad huh? :(

Song: Long, Long Time by Linda Ronstadt

Love will abide, take things in stride
Sounds like good advice but there's no one at my side
And time washes clean love's wounds unseen
That's what someone told me but I don't know what it means.

Cause I've done everything I know to try and make you mine
And I think I'm gonna love you for a long long time

Caught in my fears
Blinking back the tears
I can't say you hurt me when you never let me near
And I never drew one response from you
All the while you fell all over girls you never knew
Cause I've done everything I know to try and make you mine
And I think it's gonna hurt me for a long long time

Wait for the day
You'll go away
Knowing that you warned me of the price I'd have to pay
And life's full of flaws
Who knows the cause?
Living in the memory of a love that never was
Cause I've done everything I know to try and change your mind
and I think I'm gonna miss you for a long long time
Cause I've done everything I know to try and make you mine
And I think I'm gonna love you for a long long time.

Album: Sugarplum Fairies- Chinese Leftovers

Release Date: May 25, 2009
Info:

Los Angeles based Sugarplum Fairies are comprised of Vienna natives Silvia Ryder (vocals) and Ben Bohm (guitars, background vocals), supplemented by an array of rotating guest musicians. The sound of Sugarplum Fairies bridges the transatlantic gap with an amalgamation of European guitar pop and Americana folksiness, all tied together by Ryder s sultry, hypnotic vocals. Sugarplum Fairies upcoming release Chinese Leftovers veers from sleepy shoegaze pop to bouncy D.I.Y. indie rock, all with a subtle infusion of country-noir and the occasional hint of eclectic Vaudeville. For Chinese Leftovers Sugarplum Fairies have teamed up with Joey Waronker (Beck, REM) on drums, Gus Seyffert (The Bird And The Bee, Sia) on bass, Jebin Bruni (P.I.L., Aimee Mann) on keyboards and Martin Tillman (Dark Knight, Rickie Lee Jones) on cello. The CD was mixed by Todd Burke (Belle & Sebastian, Ben Harper) and mastered by 3 time Grammy winner Gavin Lurssen (T Bone Burnett). There are albums that simply get you. Lyrics aren't more than simple word combinations, stimulating thoughts you wish you'd had...Among softly strummed guitars, an e-bow, mandolin, piano, glockenspiel and occasional Mazzy Star moments, this duo from Vienna, stationed in California, manages to represent the complicated stages of being broken-hearted, depressed, funny, hot and spaced out all at once, and without complications

I LOVE the vocals. This album is highly recommended. Go check it out. :) You can listen to quite a bit of this band's songs on MySpace then buy their album wherever you want. :D

WWYCOA: Oobermind

WWYCOA= Why Won't You Come Out Already

A superhero loses his reason for being after he accidentally kills his archrival, Uberman.

I'm really curious about Dreamworks's upcoming movie Oobermind. It's about superheroes which I LOVE so that's the main and only reason I'm interested. Well, the cast isn't so bad either, except for Ben Stiller.

-Ben Stiller
-Robert Downey Jr.
-Tina Fey

..yeah it's probably gonna suck. Thought I'd mention it though.

Sorry no posters or trailer yet.

What Books/Movies/Animes have made you cry?

I'm VERY curious. :)

I'm not really a crier, not because I'm heartless because I'm obviously not, but because I seriously think there's something wrong with my tear ducts not only that but sometimes if my eyes get watery I try HARD not to cry. I just don't like to cry.

Books that have made me almost cry:

Fight Club by Chuck Palahniuk. R.ed here. --Yes Fight Club made me almost cry. That ending!!! The movie didn't have the same effect but I still LOVE it. :)
Tell Me That You Love Me, Junie Moon by Marjorie Kellogg. R.ed here. One of my absolute favorite books ever!
Bless Me, Ultima by Rudolfo Anaya
Follow Me by Joanna Scott. R.ed here.
Walking Naked by Alyssa Brugman. R.ed here.

I can't think of any more

Movies that have made me almost cry:

Pay it Forward (gosh the ending!!!)
A Moment to Remember. R.ed here.
Titanic--stupid Rose she could have at least tried to share that piece of wood!!! That bastard! Poor Jack :'(

Oh gosh there are so many more but I can't remember! Dang that memory of mine.

T.V Shows/Anime that have almost made me cry:
Angel-when that girl died. I definitely know her name but I don't want to say just in case someone hasn't seen this show. If you haven't GASP!!! Watch it! :) The song A Place Called Home by Kim Richey played during the whole deal. Every time I hear it I remember :(
Buffy-When I thought Spike died. I thought "Noooooooooooooooooo"
Supernatural-When one of the main characters died. Something else happened but still. So sad!
Charmed-When A died in the second season. Gosh he was SO cute! And sweet and just awesome.
Blood+--The ending!
Full Metal Alchemist--ahh that ending was SO heartbreaking and so was the movie.
Trigun--ending
Cowboy Bebop-ending. Oh Spike how I love thee and pretty much all badass Spikes out there hehe

Again, there are MANY more but I can't think of any right now.

What Books/Movies/T.V shows/Animes made you cry or almost cry?

Waiting on Wednesday: Ruined by Paula Morris

Rebecca couldn't feel more out of place in New Orleans, where she comes to spend the year while her dad is traveling. She's staying in a creepy old house with her aunt. And at the snooty prep school, the filthy-rich girls treat Rebecca like she's invisible. Only gorgeous, unavailable Anton Grey seems to give Rebecca the time of day, but she wonders if he's got a hidden agenda. Then one night, in Lafayette Cemetery, Rebecca makes a friend. Sweet, mysterious Lisette is eager to talk to Rebecca, and to show her the nooks and crannies of the city. There's just one catch: Lisette is a ghost. A ghost with a deep, dark secret, and a serious score to settle. As Rebecca learns more from her ghost friend - and as she slowly learns to trust Anton Grey-she also uncovers startling truths about her own history. Will Rebecca be able to right the wrongs of the past, or has everything been ruined beyond repair?

Why I'm waiting for it?
Hello?! One of the main characters name is called Lisette!! That's MY name! Do you know how rare it is to have that name anywhere? In books/movies/tv shows. It's never anywhere. Ah I can't wait. And it's also a ghost story, I love those. :)
Gosh the name is even spelled exactly the same way mine is spelled. You know it used to be really popular. ...back in the 18th century hehe :D

Movie Review: Requiem for a Dream

Rating: 5/5
Age R: Rated-R
Release Date: 2000
Synopsis:
Employing shock techniques and sound design in a relentless sensory assault, Requiem for a Dream is about nothing less than the systematic destruction of hope. Based on the novel by Hubert Selby Jr., and adapted by Selby and director Darren Aronofsky, this is undoubtedly one of the most effective films ever made about the experience of drug addiction (both euphoric and nightmarish), and few would deny that Aronofsky, in following his breakthrough film Pi, has pushed the medium to a disturbing extreme, thrusting conventional narrative into a panic zone of traumatized psyches and bodies pushed to the furthest boundaries of chemical tolerance. It's too easy to call this a cautionary tale; it's a guided tour through hell, with Aronofsky as our bold and ruthless host.

Thoughts:
First off, you should know, the director is God send. I'm serious, the dude is a genius. He found the most interesting and unique ways to show and almost make you feel what these folks are going through because of drugs. It's really sad though. :( The acting was also really amazing. Do you really need me to tell you anything else to get you to watch this awesome movie?
My absolute favorite scene was the end where all the main characters are in the fetal position. That was a GREAT touch. Very sad though :( You just want to cry after that.
My second favorite scene/s is the one by the pier. Love that so much. They show that twice I believe with different things happening though. :)
Like it says up there the movie is about drug addiction. You have four main characters that each have their own problems that only get worse because of their addiction to drugs. You have Harry and Marion who love each other but drugs get in the way. There's Harry's best friend Tyrone who is a business man at heart I guess you could say, but drugs get in the way. Then there's Harry's mother, Sarah. Poor lady just want to loose some weight so she could fit in that red dress her deceseased husband loved so much just so she can look great on her favorite TV show she'll be on soon, again, drugs get in the way of her dreams.
This movie is so heartbreaking! You will want to cry after having seen it. Then you'll want to watch it again which is the scary part.

YOU WILL ENJOY WATCHING THIS MOVIE IF YOU LIKE/ARE INTERESTED IN:
-Jared Leto and his hotness pre-emo --what?! I don't like how not cute he looks with all that eyeliner, is that my fault? Nooo
-GREAT direction.
-drugs
-sad stories
-amazing, mind blowing movies
-Jared Leto--oh did I already mention him?
-Darren Aronofsky--the director in all his awesomeness
-Ellen Burstyn
-Jennifer Connelly--I'm not a fan but you might be.
-Marlon Wayans--the cuter of the two brothers

Song: Hear Me Out by Frou Frou

Album: Aimee Allen- A Little Happiness

Release Date: July 21, 2009
Info:

Aimee Allen is an American pop/rock singer/songwriter based in Los Angeles, California Allen is proud that her album is free of production shortcuts, refreshingly simplified and eschewing the synthetic for the organic. Happiness is just as animated in its stories of heartbreak as its celebrations of getting over it, exemplified in both “Change in Weather” and “On Vacation.” Yet, there is an undercurrent of spiritual and social commentary throughout. “Calling the Maker” (which features one of the few samples on the album, taken from one of the first instances of recorded sound in the United States) is her plea for mercy on Judgment Day. Allen confronts organized religion while exposing her own naked fallibility in “God Talks,” and in “Save Me” (co-written with Linda Perry), implies that no one can change her but God.
The title of the record really says it all—on A Little Happiness, she courageously explores the reaches of elation and despondency, but never strays too far from the healthy, cautious optimism that defines her signature autobiographical storytelling. Allen’s strongest collection of songs to date honors the painful journey she took to create them. "I've made a lot of lyrically shocking and dark music in the past. But once you have a brush with death, things change."

I was listening to her whole album and I like it, not super amazing, but worth a listen. My favorite song on this album is La La Land so look out for that one when the CD is released July 21. In the mean time you can listen to three songs at her MySpace.
I like her style it's pretty neat but I'm not a huge fan of the lyrics, to me they're just not super amazing. You might end up really liking her so that's why I'm telling you about her. :D To each his own right? :)

Song: Blue Bayou by Linda Ronstadt

Blue Bayou(1977)
I feel so bad I got a worried mind
I'm so lonesome all the time
Since I left my baby behind
On Blue Bayou
Saving nickles saving dimes
Working til the sun don't shine
Looking forward to happier times
On Blue Bayou
I'm going back someday
Come what may
To Blue Bayou
Where the folks are fine
And the world is mine
On Blue Bayou
Where those fishing boats
With their sails afloat
If I could only see
That familiar sunrise
Through sleepy eyes
How happy I'd be
Gonna be with some of my friends
Gonna see my baby again
Maybe I'll feel better again
On Blue Bayou
Saving nickles saving dimes
Working til the sun don't shine
Looking forward to happier times
On Blue Bayou
I'm going back someday
Come what may
To Blue Bayou
Where the folks are fine
And the world is mine
On Blue Bayou
Where those fishing boats
With their sails afloat
If I could only see
That familiar sunrise
Through sleepy eyes
How happy I'd be
Oh that boy of mine
By my side
The silver moon
And the evening tide
Oh some sweet day
Gonna take away
This hurting inside
Well I'll never be blue
My dreams come true
On Blue Bayou

I LOVE Linda Ronstadt. Her voice is just lovely and so is her music. :) I grew up listening to her music because my dad loves her (her music I mean hehe) and I'm really glad for that because I don't think I would have heard her music otherwise which is just sad.

Here she is with the Muppets hehe

I love that outfit, so cute. She always did wear cute stuff. :)

In My Mailbox

Thanks to Kristi and Alea for IMM. :)

Books:

"Don't worry, Anna. I'll tell her, okay? Just let me think about the best way to do it."
"Okay."
"Promise me? Promise you won't say anything?"
"Don't worry." I laughed. "It's our secret, right?"

According to her best friend Frankie, twenty days in ZanzibarBay is the perfect opportunity to have a summer fling, and if they meet one boy ever day, there's a pretty good chance Anna will find her first summer romance. Anna lightheartedly agrees to the game, but there's something she hasn't told Frankie---she's already had that kind of romance, and it was with Frankie's older brother, Matt, just before his tragic death one year ago.

Beautifully written and emotionally honest, this is a debut novel that explores what it truly means to love someone and what it means to grieve, and ultimately, how to make the most of every single moment this world has to offer.

I won this book over at the Starry Night blog. Thanks again!!!

Francesca Lia Block's luminous, postmodern fairy tales chronicle the thin line between fear and desire, pain and pleasure, cutting loose and holding on in a world where everyone is vulnerable to the most beautiful and dangerous angel of all: love.

Got this one on swaptree. Gosh I've been wanting it FOREVER!

Non-Books:
I bought this one at Walmart. It's my absolute favorite nail polish color. Green's also my favorite color BTW :) It's SO awesome and only two bucks. It lasts about two weeks too so that's pretty neato. :)

Movie Review: Let the Right One In

Foreign Film (Sweden)

Rating: 5/5

Age R: Rated-R
Release Date in US: March 10, 2009
Synopsis:
A 12-year-old boy befriends a mysterious young girl whose appearance in town suspiciously coincides with a horrifying series of murders in director Tomas Alfredson's adaptation of the book by author John Ajvide Lindqvist, who also wrote the screenplay. Oskar is a young boy who can't seem to shake off the local bullies, but all of that begins to change when a new neighbor moves in next door. After striking up an innocent friendship with his eccentric next-door neighbor, Oskar realizes that she is the vampire responsible for the recent rash of deaths around town. Despite the danger, however, Oskar's friendship with the girl ultimately takes precedence over his fear of her.
Thoughts:
Washington Examiner is totally right when they say that this movie is the Best. Vampire. Movie. Ever. It really is. Seriously. After reading this super mind blowing review ;) you should go out and buy this movie so you can watch it over and over again. It's that awesome. I friggin' LOVE it. My absolute favorite Horror movie now. Like it says up there, this movie is based on John Ajvide Lindqvist's book. I have not read it but REALLY want to.
What I loved about this movie so much was not just the story itself but the special effects too. I loved how the creators didn't get cocky and think they'd be able to pull off some crazy stunts. They knew their limits and I'm glad they did. I would HATE this movie if these folks had messed up with the special effects. To me the SPFX are 50% percent of a movie. That's just how it is for me. In Superman Returns, I hated it because the SPFX sucked so much. Not just that but the story itself sucked and so did more things. It made me really sad too because I love Superman, he's my favorite superhero. Oh well. There's more movies I could point out but I won't because, it's a long list. ;0 hehe I loved how the girl vamp, Eli, was very much like an animal (some scary noises she makes!!). That's how vampires are supposed to be people! I thought it was friggin' amazing how her eyes were HUGE and they changed colors at certain times and such. It was a really nice touch.
My absolute favorite scene is near the end at the pool with the bullies. Oh how great! Evil I know, but soo well done. There was this part I thought was a GREAT touch. Scary but great. I won't say what in case people who haven't seen it read this but you should be ready to have your mind blown away.
One of my favorite scenes was the scene with all the cats. You'll know the one. I'm sorry but that actually made me laugh it was pretty funny. Sad/scary but funny.
Do I really need to tell you that the cinematography was beyond amazing? I don't think I need to tell you because you WILL watch this movie if you haven't already.

BTW This movie is Swedish and please don't make me stab you with a straw by watching it with English audio. I.Will.Stab.You.With.A.Straw.
Enjoy! :)

Possible Spoilers:
Someone told me a bit of background info they read about the book that's not really told in the movie and WOW. It's crazy. I'll tell you what it is but read it only after having seen the movie okay? Here it is:
The reason the girl says "Would you still like me if I wasn't a girl?" is not because she's a vamp. It's because she is not a she. :D Crazy huh? Crazy awesome though because it's so dang unexpected. You know the part where they show you know what? Well the reason why it looks like a scar is because she/he might have had it cut off for some reason. If you know why don't tell me because I want to read the book to find out. :D

**end of possible spoilers**

Quote/s:
"Would you still like me if I wasn't a girl?"

Sweetness(or possibly not):
There is a remake in the works. It's being directed by the dude that brought us Cloverfield. I hope to the universe he does not ruin it or I will personally kick him in the shins. It's going to be called Let Me In, lame I know. I blogged about it here so go read more on that if you want.

YOU WILL ENJOY WATCHING THIS MOVIE IF YOU LIKE/ARE INTERESTED IN:
-horror
-vampires
-seriously the best.vampire.movie.ever
-smart horror movies not lame ones like some I could mention hehe
-gore
-creators who are not stupid with the special effects. You know how some people use spfx that mess up a movie? Well, these guys DON'T. :) They know their limits which I friggin' love.
-no other vampire movie out there compares to this one. Not even Nosferatu which I LOVED!

Song: Be Be Your Love by Rachel Yamagata

Lovely song. Apparently it was on the sisterhood of the traveling pants movie, one of them anyway. I heard it on Pandora. So pretty! I should watch the movie it was in, just to hear this song in it and point at the screen and say "I know that song!!" hehe ;)

Secret Keeper by Mitali Perkins

Rating: 5/5
Age R: 12+
Release Date: January 13, 2009
Synopsis:
Asha, her sister Reet, and her mother have to live with their father's family now because Baba (Indian word for father) has to try to find a job in New York which, as you know, is VERY far away from India. Hopefully he will write to them soon telling them he has got a job and will send for them because the three girls are having a hard time living with Baba's impossible family. Not only that but if Baba does not get a job soon, Asha's uncle will be forced to marry off Reet. Asha cannot let this happen especially if there's a possibility of her sister ending up married with a man that might beat her. :( There are so many problems in Asha's life and hopefully SK (Secret Keeper, her journal) will help her and maybe even Jay the nice boy living next door who she yearns to see even more and more but can't because if she were to be caught speaking with a BOY ..well, it wouldn't be good for her already messed up reputation.
Thoughts:
I am in love with this book. I would make out with it if it were a person. Seriously. I love it that much even though it broke my heart then stomped on it! hehe It really did do that though. I still loved it, I can't help myself. I love sad stories, I love great stories, I love really well-written stories and this book was just that. :)
You will find yourself liking Asha and feeling extremely sad for the situation she and her family are in. You will also be all giggly on the inside for her because of her relationship with Jay. I wish there was more development on that but I understand there couldn't be. Asha is not allowed to be talking to boys, especially a stranger who lives next door. What will people think?! If she were found out, she would be forbidden from ever speaking to Jay again so of course she doesn't want that.
I adored reading all about Asha and her strong self. She is living in 1974 India and things are really tough, especially for women since it's a male dominated society. Women in her day have no say and there's just no way they can do and act like males. That's completely frowned upon and so are many things in Asha's nature. As I read this book I learned quite a lot about Indian society and culture. I didn't know like certain words (there's a glossary on the back of the book that is very dandy) and how bad some women had it in 1974 India. I had also learned a lot about India from Vikas Swarup's Q&A so it was very interesting to read another Indian book. I just love reading about all kinds of cultures and this book did not disappoint. :D
I highly recommend you guys read this book, you will love it. Be prepared to be broken hearted, in a good way, if that makes sense. ;)

Quote/s:
Someone talking to Asha:
"You don't have to. Your feet are beautiful..."
But why were her cheeks so hot? Was it because this was the first time anybody had used the word "beautiful" when talking about her?

About a certain event:
It's like a fairy tale without a happy ending for any of the characters, she thought as she read "Cinderella" to her cousins.

Across the table, Ma's expression flickered and then faded, reminding Asha of how the small television screen at Kavita's house sometimes lost reception.
Sweetness:
You can read the first six pages here.
You can find this book cheaper here than in most places.

I'm going on Vacation!

Yeppers Peppers :)

I'm going on vacation for two weeks to Zacatecas, Mexico (crazy name huh?) where my dad was born to visit my awesome family. I really hope I'm still taller than my 12 year old cousin. Last year he claimed he was taller by a millimeter. Whatever I was totally taller. Am definitely taller. ;) I'm gonna enjoy the AWESOME weather there. Compared to the 100 degree Farenheit weather her in Houston, TX it's SO much better. Sigh. There are actually cold nights there in the summer! HEAVY sigh. :) Oh and the best part is how it's so peaceful there and me and some of my family members there lay down on their trampoline and watch the stars at night. It's so amazing. I do it while listening to music of course hehe I can never not listen to music (we talk too so don't go thinking I completely ignore them b/c I don't I just repeat "What?" quite a bit). It might be an addiction I have that I will never ever acknowledge. I'm listening to music right now actually (November by Azure Ray).
Anywho, I have tons of scheduled posts that are work now woot! So ya'll won't get bored while I'm away. I might or might not have internet over there so yeah. Most likely I will but just in case everything's set up.

If ya'll are on vacation or are about to be or were already HAVE FUN/I HOPE YOU HAD FUN!!!! I sure will I hope (nah, I will hehe) especially seeing my family that I only get to see for two weeks once a year. That'll stop soon though :( After my grandma died two years ago my dad kinda doesn't want to go anymore even if his dad's still alive. What a butt, then again his dad was not nice when he was growing up so yeah... (Sing for Absolution by Muse) ehem so yeah adios!! I'd bring ya'll super Mexican presents but..yeah that'd be hard considering how I'm broke and all. But I'll bring you Mexican presents in spirit, if that makes sense. :D

For now I leave you with an Onion video about Mexicans. So hilarious! My friend sent it to me today gosh it's so funny. :)

I'm leaving tomorrow and coming back the 31st or possibly before that. Maybe I'll only be there a week. :)

Waiting on Wednesday: Fade to Blue by Sean Beaudoin

Sophie Blue started wearing a black skirt and Midnight Noir lipstick on her last birthday. It was also the day her father disappeared. Or spontaneously combusted. Which is sort of bad timing, since a Popsicle truck with tinted windows has started circling the house.

Kenny Fade is a basketball god. His sneakers cost more than his Jeep. He's the guy all the ladies (and their mommas) want. Bad.

Sophie Blue and Kenny Fade don't have a thing in common. Aside from being reasonably sure they're losing their minds.

Acclaimed author Sean Beaudoin's wildly innovative novel combines uproarious humor with enough plot twists to fill a tube sock. Park thriller, part darkly comic philosophical discussion, and accompanied by a comic book interstitial, Fade to Blue is a whip-smart romp that keeps readers guessing until the last paragraph.

Why I'm waiting?
Other than the fact that I LOVE anything funny, it seems like a really interesting and VERY entertaining read.

Who's your favorite actor/actress?

I don't really have a favorite but if I have to choose I'd say it's a tie between Natalie Portman and Zooey Deschanel. I love their acting and all the movies they come out in are just friggin' awesome! The most recent Natalie Portman movie I saw was Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium and sigh. Wow. Lovely. I also loved Jason Bateman on there I am a huge fan of his. :) Can't wait for Extract to come out!! Ehem anywho, the most recent Zooey Deschanel movie I saw was 500 Days of Summer and I LOVED it too. :) Don't forget to watch it in theaters this Friday and read my review of it here. Oh and "Please nominate me in the Best of the Best Awards". If you want, you don't have to. Just go there and scroll down to where it says BoB awards. There are tons of categories for blog awards. I don't really think I've done anything that is under any of those categories but hey if you find something knock yourself out. I don't really know if there's a reward...who cares. :)

A Kiss in Time by Alex Flinn

Rating: 3.8/5
Age R: 13+
Release Date: April 28, 2009
Synopsis:
This is a retelling of Sleeping Beauty. It's not your average tale. Sleeping Beauty, Talia, has mistakenly touched a spindle which she was warned never to be near! Now she, her family, and her whole kingdom have fallen asleep until the day her true love's first kiss wakes her from her slumber. Unfortunately, that takes 300 years. The lucky guy (or is he?) that kisses her and wakes her and her kingdom, is Jack, a sixteen year old guy. As you can imagine, this whole deal with the now long lost and never even heard of kingdom and its people is pretty crazy to Jack and now the chick he just woke up expects him to marry her? WTFruit?!
Thoughts:
I loved this book! It was quick and very cute. There were some things about it I didn't like though. The love story bit in the story seemed like it came out of no where. One day Jack and Talia are not in love with each other or even thinking of that and the next, BAM, they are in love! Silly. This and the fact that Jack was all "Oh my mommy and daddy don't love me and my daddy would never approve of the lifestyle I want to have" was very annoying. Jack came out as whinny most of the time which seriously got on my nerves. I learned to get past that and managed to still enjoy the book. I would still read this book again but next time I'd skip right past those whinny Jack moments.
The book is written in the alternating POV's of Jack and Talia. As you're reading in Talia's POV you really feel bad for the poor girl after all, she had her whole kingdom asleep for 300 years! Poor girl :( You also feel bad for her because she really wants Jack to love her because he's supposed to be her true love but unfortunately he's still hung up on his skanky ex girlfriend who broke his heart. BTW that whole deal is ridiculous. Well, the part where Jack is rude to poor Talia.
I had quite a few issues with this book but overall I loved it and would read it again especially if I'm in the mood for a cute, quick read. I guess the part I loved the most was the love story, even if it was a bit silly. The reader knows Jack and Talia are "meant to be" and going through their thoughts until they get there is pretty cute. I'm a sucker for these kinds of stories :)

Quote/s:
"Parents always forgive you," Meryl says. "Like sometimes, you see parents on the news, and their kid just got busted for murdering a 7-eleven clerk, and they're like, 'But my Bubba's a good boy. He'd never hurt a fly.' So I'm sure your parents would forgive you for whatever you did."

-Enchanted (Movie)
-Alex Flinn--also wrote Beastly (R.ed here), Breaking Point, Diva, Fade to Black, and many more.
-Jessica's Guide to Dating on the Dark Side by Beth Fantaskey. R.ed here. I felt that these two stories were somewhat similar since in A Kiss in Time the guy basically has this girl engaged to him...in a way.

In My Mailbox

Thanks to Kristi and Alea for IMM :D

This is what I got in the mail this past week:

Josh Mendel has a secret. Unfortunately, everyone knows what it is.
Five years ago, Josh’s life changed. Drastically. And everyone in his school, his town—seems like the world—thinks they understand. But they don’t—they can’t. And now, about to graduate from high school, Josh is still trying to sort through the pieces. First there’s Rachel, the girl he thought he’d lost years ago. She’s back, and she’s determined to be part of his life, whether he wants her there or not. Then there are college decisions to make, and the toughest baseball game of his life coming up, and a coach who won’t stop pushing Josh all the way to the brink. And then there’s Eve. Her return brings with it all the memories of Josh’s past. It’s time for Josh to face the truth about what happened.
If only he knew what the truth was . . .

I won this at Worducopia thanks again! :D

Wyatt Reaves takes the seat next to you, bloodied and soaking wet, and he is a big-fisted beast. Tell him to stretch out like an X across asphalt and you've got a parking space. But Wyatt's been taking it lying down for too long, and he is NOT happy.

Since he turned twelve and a half, he's been living with his uncle, a traveling salesman of mysterious agenda and questionable intent. Soon, Uncle Spade sees the potential in "kiddo" to earn cash. And that's enough to keep the boy around for nearly six years.

But what life does Wyatt deserve? Alcohol? Drugs? Bare-fisted fights? Tattoos? No friends? No role models? Living in a car? If you're brave enough to stay and listen, you'll hear an astounding story. It's not a pretty road Wyatt has traveled, but growing up rarely is.

I friggin' LOVE the cover. Sigh. :)

I got this for my cousin who loves anything Disney--like all the other drones ehem I mean children. :)
Okay I'll admit this one was not IMM I actually bought it at Walmart hehe it is just soo pretty! How could I not I ask you? :) I already put it on my nails and it looks friggin' awesome! Mr. Tahitian Green I love you!

I LOVE this necklace! I bought it from this very nice lady's etsy called Cutyourheartout. Check out her etsy here. It's so awesome! She's so nice she even threw in a free CD (the music is super duper!! my kind of music. It's Joy Zipper's American Whip), some neat temporary tattoos, stickers, and postcards! :) Love it! If you notice the necklace has a Gandhi quote that says "Where there is love, there is life" Awesome.

I don't always just get books in the mail, but since IMM is mainly for books I forget to post about the other stuff I get. I'll try to post everything I get in my mailbox from now on. :)

I suggest you guys check out cutyourheartout, you won't regret it. :D
