Ghostgirl: Homecoming by Tonya Hurley

Rating: 3/5
Age R: 13+ (I found that a LOT of 13 year olds are the ones who love this series the most) It's still pg-13 because of certain content though.
Release Date: July 1, 2009
Series? This is the second book in the Ghostgirl series. The first being, Ghostgirl :) You can read my review of that one here.
Thoughts:
In Ghostgirl: Homecoming Charlotte is in Heaven. Or is she? Is Heaven really a phone bank?
Charlotte finds herself in a place that might not be Heaven. She and the other folks from Dead Ed are all stuck answering phones but hold on a sec, Charlotte's phone is not ringing, not at all. What does that mean?
Meanwhile in the world of the living, Petula ends up in a coma (WTFruit?) and Scarlet finds herself trying to figure out a way to save Petula along with her seemingly doomed relationship with Damen.
I'm starting to think that Charlotte is going to go through all these in between places before she actually goes to Heaven. Or maybe the story in this book is the last in between place she will be in and the third one will actually take place in Heaven. Who knows.
I REALLY like the idea of what happens after death in these books. It's interesting and unique in its own way but what I don't like is the story. In the first book all Charlotte wants is to be popular yatayata then in this one she has to help Scarlet help her sister, Petula, get out of a coma. It's just not something that interests me. Sure the story has it's moments but overall, it's not for me. Not only that but the story is somewhat ridiculous to me and not in a super fun enjoyable way. Damen goes to some extreme and silly lenghts to try and get Petula to wake up from her coma. It's just ugh, ridiculous! Like I said before, this book is not for me, I liked it, but didn't love it. The characters sometimes frustrated the heck out of me along with the story but others might feel different. I'm just giving my opinion here. I honestly think teenagers might not like this book that much but those in the 12-15 year range might love it. I have a cousin that age and she really likes this series and so do a lot of her friends so there you go.

Quote/s:
She laughed and looked up at him, the relief of being with him again shining from her hazel eyes. A solitary tear dropped from Damen's eye.
'Is that a tear?'
'Yeah, but it's a man-tear'

Note:
I thought it was pretty weird that Petula and Scarlet's parents are NEVER around, not even when Petula's in the hostpital. The doctors are always telling Damen what's going on instead of Petula's guardian. Weird. All I'd want would be an explanation, but instead we get nothing.
Another thing that was odd to me was the fact that in the first book there is practically no mention of Charlotte's parents but in this one it turns out her parents have been dead. It's a huge WTFruit moment. Tonya Hurley has mentioned in interviews why she doesn't have parents but the whole parents being dead thing is odd because this news just comes out of nowhere. If I missed something in the first book talking about this let me know in the comments. I don't think I did but it's possible I suppose.

WWYCOA: Assassination of a High School President Movie Trailer

I saw this over at SlashFilm so of course I had to share.
I heard a teeny bit about this one before so I was already looking forward to it. SlashFilm says the actual movie is WAY better than what this trailer leads you to believe. I sure hope so. :) Either way, I'm interested. :D

Unfortunately folks because of some money problems this movie might not make it to theaters :( not even limited. Hopefully, HOPEFULLY, that will get sorted out and we can at least get this movie in some theaters. If not, it might just go straight to dvd. :( Well, it's something.

Let the Right One In American Movie News

Okay about two weeks ago I was told that there'd be an American movie made of the AMAZING SUPER FRIGGIN' AWESOME BEST VAMPIRE MOVIE EVER Let the Right One In. :D

Well, there are some news. Some new news hehe :D

Reeves signed on to adapt and direct an American remake of the cult hit, now called "Let Me In," the English translation of John Ajvide Lindqvist's original novel. He recently finished a second draft of the script, currently set in Reagan-era Colorado, and is scouting locations, looking to maintain the original story's chilly, snow-swept environs. The film is scheduled for a fall 2010 theatrical release.

Reeves is also working with casting director Avy Kaufman -- who previously found kids for "The Sixth Sense" and "The Ice Storm" -- to find the two leads, which Reeves vows will not be aged-up to make the film more of a smoldering "Twilight"-style romance.

"There's definitely people who have a real bull's-eye on the film," Reeves said, "and I can understand because of people's' love of the [original] film that there's this cynicism that I'll come in and trash it, when in fact I have nothing but respect for the film. I'm so drawn to it for personal and not mercenary reasons, my feeling about it is if I didn't feel a personal connection and feel it could be its own film, I wouldn't be doing it. I hope people give us a chance."
--- Mark Olsen

I'm definitely giving him a chance even though I wasn't a big fan of Cloverfield. I am excited! Mostly because I LOOOOOVED the Swedish version. We'll see how this one turns out. :D Honestly I'm REALLY glad they're not going to take advantage of the whole Twilight craze. No offense folks but I'm not a big fan of those movies. I like the books because they're cute but..yeah the movie and the upcoming one..um no sorry.

Have you seen Let the Right One In? (If no, why not!?) What do you think about this? Happy/sad it's not going to be like Twilight? Curious as to who will be cast as the two 12 yr olds? I sure am :)

Album: Julie Feeney- Pages

Release Date: June 29, 2009
Info:
Feeney's second self-produced album, pages has just been completed. She first composed the songs and all of the orchestral parts, and then she conducted the orchestra in the recording. The orchestra which included woodwinds, brass, strings, vibraphone and glockenspiel (among others) was recorded over 2 sessions in one day at the Irish Chamber Orchestra Studio in Limerick. Unusual about this album is that all of the instrumental music is played by the orchestra with no additional instruments or midi instruments. She later recorded all of the singing athome in her own studio where she produced and mixed the album.

Check out some of the music from this album on Julie Feeney's MySpace. It's beautiful! My favorite from this album is Impossibly Beautiful. I suggest you listen to the whole album because this gal's music is very pretty and the feel good kind of music you just might end up loving. :D I already got myself the album, that's just how much I like it.

Steven Spielberg T.V show?

According to EW Steven Spielberg is working on a new T.V show for TNT. Nothing's final yet but it's about this-
It takes place six months after evil extra terrestrials decimate mankind. Wyle would play the leader of a ragtag group of citizens who try to bring down the aggressors.

It's rumored that Noah Wyle will be playing the lead role. Hmm I'm not a huge fan of him....

Past Life-New T.V show coming to FOX

I definitely cannot wait. After watching that go check out the rest of the previews.

From FOX:
From writer David Hudgins (Friday Night Lights), and inspired by the book The Reincarnationist by M.J. Rose, comes PAST LIFE, a new drama series about an unlikely pair of past-life detectives who investigate whether what is happening to you today is the result of who you were before.

Another thing, the main guy feeling all scared in that trailer is a British actor. Just sayin'. :)

WWYCOA: Whatever Works

I have to say, I'm curious about Woody Allen's next movie.

What I don't like about them though is that he's pretty much ALWAYS with a younger person than him, WAY younger.

Lotus Online and Lotus: Courtship of the Seven Seeds Chapter 1-5 Review

I don't know if you've guys heard about this site called Lotus Online but if you haven't you should seriously check it out. It's the website to the Lotus series which is written by Neven Kinnefick. Unfortunately it has not been published..yet. You can thankfully read five chapters online for free from the first book in the series called Courtship of the Seven Seeds. On the website you can also find some images and music (they sound very peaceful and nice) files related to the books under Media. It's really great to see the maps of the worlds in the books. As you read along I'm sure it'd be great to see where events are taking place just like with The Inheritance Series and The Lord of the Rings books.

I've read those chapters and here's what I think :D

Rating: 3.8/5
Age R: 13+ (beware of some violent scenes, at least violent for the kiddies)
Release Date: Unknown
Thoughts:
The Temporal Lotus was the stone that created the world, commanded by those of an ancient race, known as the Alluri. Now, the Stone has gone without trace for nearly two thousand years... But all that is about to change.

Enter the Lotus series, where the end days of the Temporal Lotus's lifetime on the world of Hearth are envisioned through the eyes of Delore Viese, a young tavern worker at the forefront of an incredible journey through far-away lands, mysterious blood affiliations, and violent struggles for political ascension.

I recommend you guys read these first five chapters they are quite entertaining and fun. You'll enjoy reading about Delore, swords, greek mythiological creatures, and much more. I don't know exactly how long the book is going to be but each chapter itself is short and fast which is great considering how it seems like 12 year old or folks around that age will love it more. I really liked reading them and just to be clear, I would have given them a higher rating if I had read the whole book. You can understand how difficult it is to rate part of a book. When the book comes out I'm sure I'd LOVE to read the whole thing and am most likely going to enjoy it. From what I read it seems really good and like a great adventure I'm going to want to take. :) I'm sure I'm not the only one that will feel this way. I suggest you guys check it out. :D

As I began reading these five chapters I immediately noticed how it's just the kind of read fans of The Lord of the Rings and The Inheritance series might like. I assumed that was the case after having read the premise, and thankfully I was right. Of course, this story is quite different in it's own way which makes it stand out from those other reads. First off, this one has humor. If you've read LOTR and/or The Inheritance series you may notice how there's little to no humor there. Well, that would be great to have because if you're like me, you enjoy books/movies with humor. To me humor just makes everything better. Then there's a song in the third chapter that captures the whole LORT feel more. I gotta say I love that. :D I'm sure there's more awesomeness but I can't tell too much just by having read five chapters.

Note:
I really like the cover it makes me think of ...the future. (: Honestly it doesn't really seem to have anything to do with the story itself but it's still neat.
In the fourth chapter the word "okay" is used and it's weird because the story takes place a VERY long time ago before the word was used. It's not really known when it began to be used but still...just saying.

YOU WILL ENJOY THIS BOOK IF YOU LIKE/ARE INTERESTED IN:
-fantasy
-a sprinkle of humor

Release Date: December 11, 2009

As you probably already know this is Peter Jackson's upcoming movie (He and del Toro are still working on The Hobbit!!!) based on Alice Sebold's pretty dang good novel (R.ed here).

I think I might not necessarily want to watch it in theaters. Even though I LOVE Peter Jackson I'm not sure I'm going to love this movie. Maybe just rent it. We'll see. I'll have a better opinion once the trailer is released. :D

So have you read the book? If so what do you think? Do you think you'll be watching this movie?

Ghostgirl by Tonya Hurley

Rating: 3/5
Age R: PG-13 (some jokes are NOT appropriate for the kiddies)
Release Date: August 1, 2008
Series?- Next book is called Ghostgirl: Homecoming (as if you didn't already know hehe) comes out July 1, 2009
Thoughts:
Charlotte is not popular. The guy she has a HUGE crush on doesn't know she exists. What's worse? He's dating the head cheerleader who's super popular, unlike Charlotte. What's even worse? She is now dead because she choked on a gummy bear.
All Charlotte's ever wanted was to be popular, to be seen. Now that she's dead it seems like there is no way that's ever going to happen. But then..maybe there is.
Charlotte finds out that even though she's dead she is seen by one person. That person is Scarlet. Don't know who she is? Let me tell you. She's the goth chick that doesn't give a crud about being popular and oh yeah, she's Petula's younger sister. Charlotte decides that maybe the only way to be able to go to the other side is to get to kiss the hot guy, Damen, she's been liking for so long. And so begins her adventure.
I liked this book. It was pretty interesting and quite funny. I loved how it is pretty unique in its own way especially since it's not very predictable and lame like girl wants unavailable boy who doesn't know she exists but then suddenly he loves her and they end up together, which is honestly what I thought would happen even if Charlotte was dead. I'm beyond glad that didn't happen. Even if it didn't..I still could not really get into the story. I read the whole thing but had to take tons of breaks here and there because the story was just not that interesting to me. It was interesting but not that much. It was just okay. A quick, easy, semi-entertaining read. I think that maybe it just wasn't my type of book. I couldn't really relate to Charlotte because well I've never wanted to be a Petula, I've never stalkerishly cared for a guy the way Charlotte does for Damen. Seriously the girl had some issues. She took tons of pictures of him and all these silly things. Okay I get she has a crush on him but that doesn't mean she should go around practically stalking the guy. Then again, it's semi-understandable. She rally liked him and couldn't help herself. So I guess I'm not too irked by her actions.
After Charlotte dies she does not go to Heaven or to the afterlife. She basically goes to the in-between-place which in her world is still at her school. She and a group of other teenagers have to continue to go to school except it's a bit different. For one, they have to take a class to learn Deadiquette. All these lessons are so that they can all learn how to find a way to get to the other side.
Another reason why I wasn't a huge fan of this book was because the anticlimactic fight between Charlotte and the "big bad" antagonist (I won't say who, don't want to spoil it) was pretty lame. The issue was resolved too quickly and smoothly for my taste.
So that's what I thought but don't let that make you think you might not like this book.
Here's someone's (akalei228) review:
I was at the library looking for a book. i found ghostgirl, and i wasnt sure i would like it. it looked kindve boring, but once i started to read, i couldnt take my eyes off the book! i thought it was perfect. Tonya used very nice vocabulary within the book. the characters were so realistic, i felt myself becoming like charlotte and scarlet. i have so many petulas and wendys at my school, its hard to fit in. but thankfully, i also have a damen. as she described damen, i pictured him so well, i probably would have fallen for him if he was real. every move that the characters made, every word, i could picture myself, and other people BEING the wendys, petula, prue, damen, mr. brain, sam, metal mike, etc.

the whole point behind the book, is to teach us a very valuable lesson. be yourself, even if you're not popular, you should be proud of who you are. you may feel invisible, but know that some people notice you. i started a facebook a few days ago, i started with just my basic friends. but as i got closer to the end of the week, popular people asked me to be their friend, ME!!! so they must have noticed me.

charlotte may have never thought that she could never be popular, but she tried, and thats good enough for me. as long as you believe in yourself, and dont be conceited and care for others, you can do anything.

You see? It is enjoyable to a lot of others which is why I'm letting you see the different POVs. It's not for everyone. If you've been to a school like that girl up there, you'll be able to relate to Charlotte more. I am honestly not that way. I don't care about the whole popularity thing. I'm okay with just being me and having the friends that I have and who like me for me, just like I like them for being themselves. I'm not saying it's bad or a character flaw to want to be popular. It's only human after all right? I'm just saying, you should be happy with the way you are and not try and change yourself just so you can be "friends" with people who are most likely going to be cruel to you or with people who are probably going to be out of your life in a year or so. Be yourself and be a friend to those that matter, those people with great, nice, sweet personalities that are just waiting for you to find them. :D
As you can see, popularity is a major issue addressed in this book. I love that because well, people deal with this all the time, everyday, many times throughout our lives. Even though I like that, I still didn't find myself loving this book, sorry :(. You should consider those things I pointed out, if you think this book is for you then check it out :D
Note:
I LOVED how at the beginning of each chapter Tonya Hurley quotes some poems and music especially since she quoted my second favorite Smiths song :) She also quoted Radiohead and Belle and Sebastian who I LOVE :D There were some other's I liked but I can't remember.

YOU WILL ENJOY READING THIS BOOK IF YOU LIKE/ARE INTERESTED IN:
-goth
-afterlife and/or the in-between-place
-humor
-hot unattainable guys
-wanting to be popular
-awesome music!---well for the most part, I'm sorry but I'm not a fan of My Chemical Romance and some others mentioned in the book
-haunted houses
-Tonya Hurley-read more about her here. Then check out the Ghostgirl site then if you want buy some Ghostgirl T-shirts at Hot Topic.

Waiting on Wednesday: Libyrinth by Pearl North

Synopsis

In her debut novel, Pearl North takes readers centuries into the future, to a forgotten colony of Earth where technology masquerades as magic and wars are fought over books.

Haly is a Libyrarian, one of a group of people dedicated to preserving and protecting the knowledge passed down from the Ancients and stored in the endless maze of books known as the Libyrinth. But Haly has a secret: The books speak to her.

When the threat of the rival Eradicants drives her from her home, Haly learns that things are not all she thinks they are. Taken prisoner by the Eradicants, who believe the written word to be evil, she sees the world through their eyes and comes to understand that they are not the book-burning monsters that she has known her entire life.

The words of a young girl hiding in an attic—written hundreds of years before Haly’s birth—will spark the interest of her captors and begin the change necessary to end the conflict between the Eradicants and Libyrarians. With the help of her loyal companion Nod, a creature of the Libyrinth, Haly must mend the rift between the two groups before their war for knowledge destroys them all. Haly’s life—and the lives of everyone she knows—will never be the same.

A powerful adventure that unites the present and future, Libyrinth is a fresh, magical novel that will draw in young readers of all genres.

Release Date: July 7, 2009

Why I'm Waiting on it?
It sounds quite a bit like a book I REALLY like Farenheit 451-Ray Bradbury. I'm quite curious about how this one will be like. I also absolutely LOVE post apocalyptic kinds of stories(it's not completely post apocalyptic but a little bit, I mean something must have happened to the world to end up like that right?). I seriously can't get enough of them.

(500) Days of Summer (Review)

Rating: 5/5
Age R: pg-13
Release Date: July 17, 2009 (limited)
Cast: Zooey Deschanel (Yes, Man, Winter Passing, Elf, The Happening)
Joseph Gordon-Levitt (10 Things I Hate About You, Angels in the Outfield, Along for the Ride, Brick, Killshot, That 70's Show)
Matthew Gray Gubler (Criminal Minds, Alvin and the Chipmunks)
Synopsis:
This is a story of boy meets girl, begins the wry, probing narrator of 500 DAYS OF SUMMER, and with that the film takes off at breakneck speed into a funny, true to life and unique dissection of the unruly and unpredictable year-and-a-half of one young man's no-holds-barred love affair.
Thoughts:
Like it says on the synopsis, you should know straight off that this movie is NOT a love story. It's basically a story about heartbreak and about the ugly truth of love. It's about how not everyone gets a happy ending.
Tom (Levitt) begins to fall in love with his boss's new assistant Summer (Deschanel) but the thing is, she doesn't believe in love. Then one day, out of the blue, she kisses him. Unfortunately she doesn't want a serious relationship(she basically wants a boy toy is what I think). He agrees. Things happen in those 500 days of knowing Summer.
It's an amazing adventure you'll love to go through along side poor Tom. It's not only sad and truthful but it's also EXTREMELY funny. The awesomeness doesn't stop there. The director, Marc Weeb, is beyond talented. Should I say more? Okay I will. He's super amazing when it comes to directing! There were many moments thoughout the movie that just left me in awe. You will completely agree with me once you watch it, if you do. But you will. :D If you don't want to see it I will dress up like a ninja, hunt you down, and MAKE you watch it. So you better watch it. :D
Summer is not likable, not to me anyway and I'm sure tons of people will not like her either. She is just one of those heartbreakers. You will find yourself liking her ..then hating her just like poor Tom. It's just sad but you know this happens ALL the time in real life, it's happened to you, it's happened to your friend, your neighbor yatayata yet you still can't help but love the story.
I thought this movie was very nicely done. It's definitely one of those movies you want to watch in theatres then own so you can watch over and over again. Especially after a hearbreak. I don't mean to say it's gonna make you all happy again but it'll let you know you're not alone. It happens *shrug*.
You'll love everything about this movie, the cute protagonists, the wise young sister, funny dork best friends, the awesome soundtrack that you're going to have to own, and being able to relate to the story as a whole.
Enjoy!

Favorite Moments:
-The beginning of the movie, the authors note (shown below).
-The dance sequence that Joseph Gordon-Levitt and a bunch of people dressed in blue perform. It was amazing! A great touch.
-Whenever Tom spoke to his very wise younger sister about relationship advice. Hilarious.
-When Matthew Gray Gubler talked about his "dream" girl. Sooo funny.
-When the screen was split in two and on the left was what Tom expected to happen and on the right was what really happened. Ingenious.
-When it seems like Tom's world has ended because he found out something extremely depressing--the whole city turns into an architectuaral like sketch (he likes architecture).
-When they say penis (it probably doesn't seem funny but...you'll see).
-The ending. Sooo funny!

Quotes(that I can remember):
A movie about a vampire that is a giant, it's called Vangiant. Too funny.

Author's note:
"The characters in this movie are purely fictional. Any similarities between them and real individuals are purely coincidental. Except of you Jane Doe....bitch"
*there's an actual name there instead of Jane Doe but I can't remember it.

The animation looks quite different from Miyasaki's regular style. I still like it though. It looks ..childish and not in a bad way.

The Last Airbender Official Trailer

Looks pretty neat but ..I think it's gonna suck. I sure hope I'm proven wrong.
I thought the show was pretty neat and cute. I never finished watching it because it was getting boring but maybe someday I'll get back to it. Maybe not.
Either way I'm still pretty curious about this movie especially since Dev Patel from SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE (!!) will be starring as Zuko the evil fire guy.

Release Date: July 2, 2010 (subject to change of course)

Picture: Old Shoes

These are some old shoes that used to be my uncle's. I found them last year at one of my grandma's houses. She doesn't use it anymore but I think she's getting it fixed up or something. Well, my uncle had to use those when he was little to help him walk since he had trouble with his legs. He used them 40+ years ago when he was around four years old. Poor fella. :(

Gosh you have no idea how excited I was to find this in my mailbox the day it arrived. I seriously jumped up and down with joy :) I LOVE del Toro's work. Him being a fellow Mexican (my parents are Mexican) makes him more relateable. :D ..sure I wasn't born in Mexico, but still :D hehe I love Pan's Labyrinth! ..just sayin'..and Hellboy, well, only the first one the second one was um, I'm sorry Mr. del Toro but I did not like the second one. Another thing Guillermo del Toro is going to do is direct the movie Drood based on the book by Dan Simmons.

The Little Giant of Aberdeen County by Tiffany Baker

Non-YA
Rating: 4/5
Age R: 15+ (It's not appropriate for younger audiences and it's aimed more towards older audiences)
Release Date: January 8, 2009
Synopsis:
When Truly's mother was pregnant, the town of Aberdeen joined together in betting how recordbreakingly huge the baby boy would ultimately be. The girl who proved to be Truly paid the price of her enormity; her father blamed her for her mother's death in childbirth, and was totally ill equipped to raise either this giant child or her polar opposite sister Serena Jane, the epitome of femine perfection. When he, too, relinquished his increasingly tenuous grip on life, Truly and Serena Jane are separated--Serena Jane to live a life of privilege as the future May Queen and Truly to live on the outskirts of town on the farm of the town sadsack, the subject of constant abuse and humiliation at the hands of her peers.

Serena Jane's beauty proves to be her greatest blessing and her biggest curse, for it makes her the obsession of classmate Bob Bob Morgan, the youngest in a line of Robert Morgans who have been doctors in Aberdeen for generations. Though they have long been the pillars of the community, the earliest Robert Morgan married the town witch, Tabitha Dyerson, and the location of her fabled shadow book--containing mysterious secrets for healing and darker powers--has been the subject of town gossip ever since. Bob Bob Morgan, one of Truly's biggest tormentors, does the unthinkable to claim the prize of Serena Jane, and changes the destiny of all Aberdeen from there on.

When Serena Jane flees town and a loveless marriage to Bob Bob, it is Truly who must become the woman of a house that she did not choose and mother to her eight-year-old nephew Bobbie. Truly's brother-in-law is relentless and brutal; he criticizes her physique and the limitations of her health as a result, and degrades her more than any one human could bear. It is only when Truly finds her calling--the ability to heal illness with herbs and naturopathic techniques--hidden within the folds of Robert Morgan's family quilt, that she begins to regain control over her life and herself. Unearthed family secrets, however, will lead to the kind of betrayal that eventually break the Morgan family apart forever, but Truly's reckoning with her own demons allows for both an uprooting of Aberdeen County, and the possibility of love in unexpected places.

Thoughts:
In her first novel, Tiffany Baker, takes us into quite the interesting adventure full of captivating writing, complex characters, a "giant"and so much sadness.
At first the story started off kind of slowly for me but after the first chapter it really picks up. I immediately wanted to know more about Truly and how her life would be. It was indeed very interesting but at times I found myself really frustrated with her. She could have made it better by not letting Robert Morgan boss her around. I understand the reason why she had to stick by him, being threatened and because she wanted to be there for Bobbie but at the same time she could have just run away with him or something! Not just stand there all those years and take all that harshness from the guy. Other than that I often felt sad for Truly. She's not your average protagonist which I absolutely loved. I get tired of all those perfect great looking protagonist who whine about this or that. Truly's life is pretty difficult because as she's growing up people always compare her with her beautiful and perfect sister Serena Jane. After Serena Jane leaves town, Truly is still not respected because of her size. Later it turns out she's going to continue to grow and grow (like the boy from Big Fish, love that movie BTW). She basically only has three friends in her life that she loves and who love her but then she doesn't really see them/talk to them at all. I did not like this. I understand that basically she was forbidden to communicate with them much but ..not really. She could have done something about that, which is another thing that irked me about Truly.
For all her character flaws I still grew (honestly, no pun intended) to like her and her life, even if it did make me sad. I just couldn't help but love the writing and the story in this book. It seriously got me hooked and for a debut novel, that's incredible.
I have to say, my favorite character was Marcus. The guy was just SO lovable I wanted to somehow get in those pages and hug him for his adorableness and sweetness. I also loved how he knew all these facts about Russian dogs, plants, and such. As I was reading the book, I practically lived for those moments until unfortunately they stopped. :(
About the sad parts in the book-
There were times where I thought certain situations that would normally be extremely sad just were not executed properly. The reader did not feel too much because we don't get many details as expected. It's just "look at her, oh, she dies" that's it. The emotion in some parts of the novel was just not that great and at times information was just thrown at you. In a way it shocked you in a surprisingly good way but other times it just left me thinking "what the fruit?"
Another thing I most definitely loved was that even though people judge Truly for her looks and she never has a boyfriend, her story is told realisticly. There's not romance that suddenly comes out of nowhere and hits you in the face. Oh but there's a romance indeed. :) That's not the main point of the story so don't get this book just for that okay? It's also not all about how Truly feels being an outcast. It's just about her life if that makes sense. There are moments where she talks about how people treat her but those are pretty rare.

Overall a very enjoyable read. It may have some flaws but you can't help but enjoy the ride. I really, really liked it. :D
Note: The story takes place not in this century I completely forgot when exactly. Definitely around a war..I forgot which I'm sorry :( It's not really a main thing so don't blame me too much for forgetting okay? :D I feel it's important to note that this doesn't take place in the 21st century because then you won't be thinking "why doesn't she just do this? or that?" Back then certain things were just not a possibility. :(

Quote/s:
Truly's father telling her she doesn't resemble her mother
'Not a lick of your mother in you,' he said, then chuckled. 'More like three licks...' I thought about the X-ray glasses advertised on the back of the cereal box we'd bought last week. Right then, I wished my father could have put them on. Then maybe he would have seen that I was more like my mother than it appeared....'Just fine,' he repeated into the empty air, ignoring the tiny razor teeth that were nibbling at my soul and quietly eliminating it, making me small in spite of my heft. Making me less than half the girl I wanted to be.

Dream Thursday: Attack of the Bunnies

I haven't had any dreams I can remember :(

BUT, I did have one about two years ago I remember hehe it's ridiculous

Dream:

This whole dream looked JUST like the video game Grand Theft Auto (Yes, I played it around the time I had this dream one GTA game had recently come out and I was playing against a friend of mine during school that week, don't worry it was a class that allowed it). I was running away from hundreds of little white bunnies. Why was I running you ask? Well, they were trying to friggin' KILL ME!! Those little bastards. They were all wielding machine guns and coming at me like there was no tomorrow. They just ran so friggin' fast, you have no idea. The last thing I remember was hopping into a car with someone driving me to safety.

Any interesting/odd/crazy dreams you've had lately?
