Dream Thursday: Chace Crawford

Yeah I may have forgotten last week's Dream Thursday hehehe

Ok so what happened in the last interesting/odd/crazy/awesome dream I can remember? As you can tell by the title, Chace Crawford guest starred in it. :) This is what I remember (Rated-R for violence):

Me and about four friends (in real life they'd be complete strangers, except for CC but I don't know him in real life so technically...) were inside a huge mansion that so happend to be my home (oh sweet sweet dreams). You'd think I'd be happy hanging with friends in my big ol' comfy home possibly waiting out the rain outside. But no. We were all SCARED TO DEATH BECAUSE THERE WAS SOME PSYCHO KILLER OUTSIDE TRYING TO KILL US OFF ONE BY ONE!! Yeah you read that right. The killer was trying to stab us with a knife he/she had. Somehow the knife went right through the walls, the floor, everything! You can imagine how scared we were especially since we basically had no where to hide, even in that ginormous place. For some reason the killer managed to find us everytime. After a while it managed to stab one of my friends in the face. Blood splatered all over the place. I remember so clearly seeing the blood spilling out of her mouth. It was not a pretty sight and I felt so sad!! I guess I got over my sadness quickly since I worried more about staying alive (my dream self is such a selfish bastard in this dream then again I guess there was nothing I could have done). I ran towards another room along with everyone else. On our way the killer tried stabbing us through the walls. We made it to a large room but by then the killer had stopped. I guess it was waiting, building suspense or something (the a-hole!). Because it's a dream, and dreams don't make sense most of the time (at least mine don't), it was as if all was forgotten since next thing I know I'm standing on top of a chair painting on a wall (?). My friends (the surviving ones I suppose) and I were fixing up the mansion. Hmm now that I think about it maybe this was waaaaay after the events of that fateful night. Who knows. Anyway, we were fixing up the house, me on top of that chair, two friends scattered here and there painting or something similar, and then there was Chace Crawford (he had been in the previous "segment" too now that I remember). He was just being his cute self and helping out too. At some point he smiled at me, I smiled back of course, then he began walking towards me, I thought he was going to say something to me (making conversation, nothing romantic since our "relationship" was just a close friendship like that of childhood friends) but instead he just kept smiling that adorable smile of his and as he was passing me by he freakin' FLICKED ME OFF!! I laughed at this instead of being angry or surprised, which is why I know we were good friends (it also just felt like we were good friends, nothing more, how unfortunate huh? hehe). He just kept on smiling and going to wherever he was going.
In this other part of my dream it was prom night (tomorrow is actually my prom night!!). I was wearing I don't know what but was going to change into my prom dress inside a small eco friendly building. The reason I say eco friendly is because it was all in green and the floor, made out of some odd but pretty glass, was somehow recycled and had recycle signs all over it (?). I don't really remembered what happened here. The last thing I remember was being with two of my friends getting ready for prom behind some curtains.

Maybe I dreamt the part about Chace Crawford because I was writing that Gossip Girl review. I probably dreamt about prom because prom is coming up. The reason for the eco friendly building was most likely because about two days before having this dream, me and two of my friends (the same ones in the dream, in the second part though) volunteered at a "green" convention. I say "green" because I don't mean the color I mean it was earth related stuff. :)

What was I listening to, you ask?

AND NOW...THE FIRST CHAPTER:

“Where is Taylor?” asked Grandmother as she drove DJ home from the airport.
”Is she coming on a later flight?”

DJ hadn’t told her the whole story yet. In fact, she hadn’t said much of anything to Grandmother at all during the past week, except to leave a message saying that she’d changed her flight and planned to be home two days earlier than expected. Obviously, Grandmother had assumed that Taylor had changed her plans as well.

“Taylor’s in LA,” DJ said slowly, wishing she could add something to that, something to deflect further questioning.

“Visiting her father?”

“No…"

“Touring with Eva?”

“No…”
“What then?” Grandmother’s voice was getting irritated as she drove away from the terminal. “Where is the girl, Desiree? Speak up.”

“She’s in rehab.”

“Rehab?” Grandmother turned to stare at DJ with widened eyes. “Whatever for?”

“For alcohol treatment.”

Grandmother seemed stunned into speechlessness, which was a relief since DJ didn’t really want to discuss this. She was still trying to grasp the whole strange phenomenon. It was hard to admit, but the past few days of being mostly by herself in Las Vegas had been lonely and depressing and one of the reasons she’d been desperate to change her flight and come home early. She had really missed Taylor. The hardest part was when she discovered that Taylor wasn’t allowed any communication from outside the rehab facility. This concerned DJ. No cell phone calls, email, or anything. It seemed weird. Although DJ was praying for her roommate, she was worried. What if it wasn’t a reputable place? What if Taylor never came back? What if something bad happened to her? Not only would DJ blame herself, she figured everyone else would too.

Finally Grandmother spoke. “Did you girls get into some kind of trouble in Las Vegas, Desiree?”

“No…”

“I want you to be honest with me. Did something happen to precipitate this?”

“The only thing that happened is that Taylor came to grips with the fact that she has a serious drinking problem. If you’ll remember, I tried to let you in on this some time ago.”

“Yes, I remember the vodka bottle. I simply assumed it was a one-time occurrence.”

“I told you otherwise.”

“Well, I know that girls will be girls, Desiree. You can’t have spent as much time as I in the fashion industry and not know this.”

“Were you ever like that?” asked DJ. “I mean that girls will be girls bit?”

Grandmother cleared her throat. “I wasn’t an angel, Desiree, if that’s what you’re hinting at. However, I did understand the need for manners and decorum. I witnessed numerous young women spinning out of control. Beautiful or not, a model won’t last long if she is unable to work.”

“Isn’t that true with everything?”

“Yes…I suppose. How long is Taylor going to be in…this rehabilitation place?”

“I don’t know. You should probably call her mom.”

“Oh, dear…that’s something else I hadn’t considered. Certainly Eva Perez won’t be blaming me for her daughter’s, well, her drinking problem.”
“Eva is fully aware that Taylor had this drinking problem long before she came to Carter House.”

“Good.” Grandmother sighed and shook her head. “I just hope her treatment won’t prevent her from participating in Fashion Week. That would be a disaster.”

“Seems like it would be a worse disaster if Taylor didn’t get the help she needs.”

“Yes, of course, that goes without saying. But I would think that a week or two should be sufficient. Goodness, just how bad can a problem get when you’re only seventeen?”

DJ shrugged, but didn’t say anything. The truth was she thought it could get pretty bad, and in Taylor’s case it was bad. And it could’ve gotten worse. To think that Taylor had been drinking daily and DJ never even knew it.

“It’s just as well you came home early, Desiree,” said Grandmother as she turned onto the parkway. “Already Casey and Rhiannon are back. And Kriti is supposed to return tomorrow. Eliza will be back on New Year’s Eve.”

“I’m surprised she didn’t want to stay in France for New Year’s.”

“As am I. If I were over there, I’d certainly have booked a room in Paris. Nothing is more spectacular than fireworks over the City of Light. But apparently Eliza has plans with her boyfriend. Imagine—giving up Paris for your boyfriend!”

Of course, DJ knew that Eliza’s life of lavish luxury didn’t mean all that much to her. Like a poor little rich girl, Eliza wanted a slice of “normal.” Well, normal with a few little extras like good shoes, designer bags, and her pretty white Porsche.

“It’s good to be home,” DJ proclaimed as her grandmother turned into the driveway.

“It’s good to hear you say that,” said Grandmother.

And it was the truth. After a week in Vegas, DJ was extremely thankful to be back. Maybe for the first time, Carter House did feel like a home. She couldn’t wait to see Casey and Rhiannon.

“Welcome back,” called Casey as she opened the door, dashed out onto the porch, and hugged DJ. “Need some help with those bags?”

“Thanks.” DJ studied Casey for a moment, trying to figure out what had changed. “Your hair!”

Casey picked up one of DJ’s bags then grinned as she gave her strawberry blond hair a shake. “Like it?”

“It’s the old you—only better.”

“My mom talked me into it. The black was a little dramatic, don’t you think?”

“I think you look fantastic. And that choppy layered cut is very cute.”

“Your grandmother approved it too. And I got highlights.”

DJ touched her own hair. “Taylor had been nagging me to get mine redone. But it was so expensive in Vegas. I figured I’d do it here.”

Casey lowered her voice. “So how’d your grandmother take the news about Taylor?”

DJ stopped at the foot of the stairs and stared at Casey. “Did Rhiannon tell you everything?”
“Yeah, is it supposed to be a big secret?” Casey made a hurt face now. “I was wondering why you told Rhiannon and not me. I thought we were friends, DJ.”

“I didn’t mean to, but I sort of spilled the beans with Rhiannon because I was so desperate and didn’t know what to do at the time. But then I felt bad. I mean it was possible that Taylor wanted to keep it private, you know?”

Casey nodded somberly. “Yeah, I guess I do know.”

“You should.” After all, it had only been a few months since they had intervened with Casey in regard to her pain pill snitching.

“So, are you saying mum’s the word?”

“Until Taylor comes back. Don’t you think it’s up to her to say something or not?”

“Yeah. I can just imagine Eliza with that tasty little morsel of gossip. It’d be all over the school in no time.”

“Speaking of Eliza, that means Kriti too.”

“Kriti just got here about an hour ago.” Casey paused, nodding toward the room that Kriti and Eliza shared. The taxi dropped her and she went straight to her room. But something seems wrong.”

“What do you mean?”

“I’m not sure. She just looks different. Kind of unhappy. I mean she didn’t even say hello or anything.”

“Maybe she was missing her family.”

“Maybe, but my guess is it’s something more.”

“We should probably try harder to reach out to her and make her feel at home.”

“You’re here!” Rhiannon burst out of the room and threw her arms around DJ. “Welcome home!”

“Man, it is so good to be back. Vegas—for more than a day or two—is a nightmare.”

“At least you got a tan,” observed Rhiannon. She glanced at Casey. “Both of you, in fact.”

“It’s that California sun.”

“Don’t make me envious,” said Rhiannon.

“Hey, look at you,” said DJ as she noticed that Rhiannon had on a very cool outfit. “Is that new?”

“Old and new. My great aunt gave me some of her old clothes and I’ve been altering them.” She held out her hands and turned around to make the long circular skirt spin out. “Fun, huh?”

“And cool,” said DJ.

“She’s got all kinds of stuff,” said Casey. “Hats and costume jewelry and scarves and things. I told her she should open a retro shop and get rich.”

“Maybe I will someday.”

“Or just sell things here in Carter House,” suggested DJ. “Between Eliza and Taylor’s clothing budget, you could clean up.”

“Oh, yeah, DJ, Conner just called,” said Rhiannon. “They just got back from their ski trip and he said he tried your cell a few times, but it seemed to be turned off.”

“More like dead. My flight was so early this morning, I forgot to charge it.”

“Well, I told him you’d call.”

Casey set DJ’s bag inside her door. “Speaking of boys, I think I’ll check and see how Garrison is doing—find out if he missed me or not.” She touched her hair. “Do you think he’ll like it?”

“How could he not,” said Rhiannon. “It’s so cool.”

“Later,” called Casey as she headed for her room.

“So, how’s Taylor?” asked Rhiannon quietly.

“You didn’t tell Kriti, did you?” whispered DJ, pulling Rhiannon into her room then closing the door.

“No, why would I?”

“I just wanted to be sure. I think we need to respect Taylor’s privacy with this.”

“Absolutely. So, have you talked to her?”

“They won’t let me. They have this no communication policy. No email, cell phones…nothing. It’s like a black hole. Weird.”

Rhiannon nodded. “Yeah, it was like that with my mom at first. I think they wanted to keep her cut off from any bad connections. Then after a while, you earn communication privileges.”

“Oh, that’s a relief. I was really worried.”

“I still can hardly believe Taylor went willingly.”

“Yeah, our strong-willed wild child…putting herself into rehab.” DJ shook her head.

“That remind me, Seth has called a few times too. He wanted to know why Taylor’s cell was off and where she was.”

“What’d you say?”

“That I didn’t know.” She shrugged. “Actually, that was the truth.”

“But nothing else?”
“No.”

“Good. I mean it’s not like we need to keep it top secret, but until we hear from Taylor, let’s not talk about it.”

“Sure.” Rhiannon put a hand on DJ’s shoulder. “And don’t worry about her, DJ. She’ll be fine.”
“I know.” DJ nodded as she put her bags on her bed and started to unzip them. But as soon as Rhiannon left, DJ wasn’t so sure. What if Taylor wasn’t fine? What if something had gone wrong? And what if it was all DJ’s fault?

Thoughts:
This book is the sixth in the Carter House Girls series. We continue to find out what else is happening in DJ's life while living with her grandmother and five other girls and learning about being a model. DJ's Grandmother is preparing them for Fashion Week in New York which is something DJ is not particularly looking forwards to. That's not her only problem though. One of the girls seems to be anorexic, another one and alcoholic, and there seems to be an old "friend" joining the group and is cousing lots of trouble. Even more problems keep popping out of nowhere for these girls and they have to figure out how to deal.
I liked the writing it was pretty cool and kept me interested but what I didn't like was the story itself. I just had to keep taking a break from this book. It is not one of those reads that grabs me, not at all. I thought the premise was interesting but ...eh The whole thing just didn't do it for me. There are all these little problems that come up which need to be dealt with but there just isn't really any action. It's just flat and stays that way. Maybe it's not my kind of book, there certainly will be others who will enjoy it. Read the excerpt up there, if it seems interesting to you then by all means go for it. :)

Project Sweet Life by Brent Hartinger

Rating: 3.8/5
Age R: 12+
Release Date: February 3, 2009
Thoughts:
Project Sweet life is the story about fifteen year old Dave and his two best friends, Curtis and Victor. The day right before their summer vacation begins, their dads spring this crazy order on them, they have to get a job. They absolutely cannot have this! I mean they're only fifteen! They shouldn't have to work, besides they had everything planned out for the summer. Since they don't want this job thing ruining their vacation they decide to come up with the cash they would have made working all summer ($7,000 bucks to be exact) in a quick way so that they have the rest of the summer to do what they had been planning. Unfortunately, things don't go as planned.
I really liked this book. The story was very ...sweet. hehe It's basically about these three good friends going through an adventure. I absolutely love those kinds of stories and thankfully this book was just as good. It made me laugh out loud at times, gosh the things these kids think up! Hilarious. The three fellas were unfortunate enough to end up having bad luck in a bunch of the schemes they tried to make themselves rich quick. It was pretty fun to read about. I could easily picture this becoming a movie and trust me, I'd be one of the first to see it. :)
I loved the whole friendship subject, absolutely loved it! It's really great how each of the boys had their own funky personality but they were good together anyway, it's really cute. :)
A bunch of the schemes really seems like they would work and I was seriously thinking, "Whoa they make those seven grand that fast?" It really surprises you which is nice. Did I mention it was very funny? Gosh I just cracked up so much with the old lady part, you have no idea how much I laughed. Too funny.
The reason I didn't give this book a higher rating was because I didn't like a few things about it. I didn't like that the mother was so..weak. The husband seemed to be the one to always call the shots while the mother just sat there quitely and did nothing. I hated that VERY much. tsk tsk Another thing I didn't like was that sometimes the story got slow. Thankfully it didn't so much that I didn't enjoy the book but it still happened. If anything I'm sure younger readers will love it more than its intended audience; young adults. I would have given this four stars if it weren't for that.

Some awesome passages from inside the book:

The adults won't tell you this, but I absolutely knew it in my bones to be true: Once you take that first summer job, once you start working, you're then expected to keep working. For the rest of your life! Once you start, you can't stop, ever--not until you retire or you die.

Funny but so very true in many cases.

So for the next three days, my friends and I hid in that diaper, watching Mrs. Shelby's house.
I recommend Project Sweet Life to those looking for a cute, semi-light read full of adventure and friendship. :D

Would you like to see my books? :)

I got the idea to do this from Korianne and a bunch of other bloggers who posted up their bookshelves. Don't you just love looking at other people's bookshelves? I do I LOVE it!!! :)
Be WARNED!! It's all soo very MESSY!! :) Click the pictures to see them better.

That's the top of my bookshelf. As you can see it includes the oh so lovely Harry Potter series that I HAVE GOT TO RE-READ!! It's just haunting me, haunting me I tell you! :) You can also see my super cool peter pan snow globe I got in Disney World. Gosh how I love everything Peter Pan :D There's also a bobble head of Houston Astros' Jeff Bagwell, Thing 1 and Thing 2 baseball, Houston Museum of Natural science baseball, my sheep/giraffe/elephant bank ..that's empty hehe, a picture of little me, my smallville dvd's, dead like me dvd's and a few more dvds. You can see what else for yourself hehe :) I have a bunch more movies but those are elsewhere.

This is the rest of my one and only bookshelf. I seriously need more hehe I just haven't gotten around to it...The top shelf contains all the ones I've read. The second one contains them too, except for the Narnia ones since I still haven't finished those. The bottom two contain ones I will read.

Recent books I've bought. :)
Ditto.
Yeah...My mommy decided to put some in my bathroom, which no one uses. We all use another one. Most of these are books I'm trading. Sometimes, because I am a book shopohilic, I'll buy books just because they're cheap. In my defense, other than the fact that they are cheap, 99.9% of the time they come with books I want so... :D I have some more in a closet somewhere but those are mostly encyclopedias.

Can you name some good movies you've seen recently?

After watching A Moment to Remember I started thinking, what other great movies are out there that I have not seen?

So, what awesome movies have you seen lately?

Recently I saw and LOVED:

Sin Nombre --R.ed here. Oh gosh I cannot tell you enough times how much I loved this movie!! It's so sad and there's this particular part in the movie that I swear my heart just stopped, and I wasn't the only one. Everyone in the theater just stopped breathing for a moment, it got that quiet. This one's about the journey a girl takes from Honduras all the way to the United States, yes illegaly.
A Moment to Remember- (couldn't find a trailer w/ English subs) Oh gosh this one seriously pulls at your heartstrings. This movie is about the relationship between a girl and a guy--something super sad happens!! I won't say what though, wouldn't want to spoil it.
Requiem for a Dream--this one completely blew my mind, it's now one of my top, TOP favorites! It's based on a book written by Hubert Selby Jr. BTW. :) It's about how drugs can seriously ruin people's lives.

Well those are the movies I recently saw that changed my world :D I HIGHLY recommend them. :) Click on the titles to see a trailer of each. Have fun!! Oh and don't forget to check the ratings b/c I don't want you seeing something that'll traumatize you.

BTW you can watch A Moment to Remeber online for free on You Tube. So if you're to cheap or broke to buy it then go watch it there. But YOU BETTER WATCH IT! Keep some Kleenex nearby :D

So what are some of your recent movies?

Oh. My. Gods by Tera Lynn Childs

Rating: 3.6/5
Age R: 13+
Release Date: May 2008
Thoughts:
I won this book from Tera Lynn Child's blog a while back, and I read it that same week! :D Thanks! To be honest I don't think I would have picked it up otherwise. I'm just into really artsy covers, I'm sorry okay? I judge books by their covers, I can't help it! :( I'm ashamed I am :(
Anywho..Oh.My.Gods, is about a girl named Phoebe who is forced to move to Greece with her mom and her new husband. She is in for a bunch of surprises! Not only does she have a bastard of a step sister but she is apparently attending a school full of the decendants of Greek gods! Yeah you read that right. Isn't that cool?
I loved the fact that Greek mythology is incorporated in this modern novel. I also thought the concept of the girl-not-fitting in, unrequited love, and other topics. The story was pretty cute, but it's not for everyone. It would appeal more to younger readers than young adults. This one was okay and I would recommend it to those who are looking for a nice, cute, short, love story, especially if you're into Greek gods.

YOU WILL ENJOY READING THIS BOOK IF YOU LIKE:
-Tera Lynn Childs
-Greek mythology
-love stories
-short, cute reads
-reading about someone forced to move
-friendship
-the new girl

The writing in this is....out of this world. Seriously. It's just so freakin' beautiful!
Follow Me is one of the most beautiful books I have EVER read! The story is just too, too wonderful and unforgettable, it's one I am definitely going to revisit.
The story starts off with a girl who (we later learn is Sally's granddaughter) is talking about how her father tried to kill himself, failed, then just packed up and left. Sally, the narrator's grandmother, blames herself for this. Why you say? Well, Sally (granddaughter) tells us why.
And so begins the story of Sally Werner, a sixteen year old girl who gets knocked up by her cousin. She decides to run away, leaving her baby behind on the kitchen table, only to later become Sally Angel, then Sally Mole, then Sally Bliss. Each time she runs away she changes her last name. And each time we read about a story that seriously pulls at your heartstrings. One in particular almost had me in tears. If my tear ducts worked properly I would have totally cried my eyes out. :(
Joanna Scott takes us through the amazing journey of a girl who's life ends up bringing her down, and down, and down. I completely admire this girl for having the strength to start over again more than once. In a way it was kind of cowardly, but then again, imagine if you went through that? What would you do? Not that you'd do the exact same thing but she was young and it is hard to think straight sometimes. Either way, I loved this book so much you have no idea. I'll admit at some points it was a bit slow, but that didn't last more then a minute.
I absolutely loved the way it was written. Some of it was written in the POV of Sally's granddaughter, most in the POV of Sally herself, and some in the POV of Sally's (granddaughter, kinda confusing huh? hehe) father.

Gosh darn I'm still thinking about this one particular part that made me soo dang sad you've no idea. :( I'm not gonna give any spoilers but I will say this, it has to do with one of Sally's loves. :(

Here's a sample of Joanna's wonderful writing (without spoilers):

Sally writing to her sister Tru:
She said that fairy in the new movie Peter Pan reminded her of
Tru. Sally asked Tru if she remembered the night long ago, before she became
sick, when Tru had a dream that she could fly. For many days afterward, she
tried to fly. She jumped off the bed and she jumped off the fence and she jumped
from the loft. Did Tru remember? She flapped and flapped her arms so hard there
were times Sally thought her sister just might fly, but then splat, down she'd come, every time.

I'm really eager to read more of Joanna Scott, starting with Everybody Loves Somebody (it's five bucks on bn.com!! As soon as I get some extra cash I'm all over that! hehe)--sounds awesome! :)

Movie: Mirror Mask

Rating: 4.8/5
Age R: 12+
Release Date: 2005
Thoughts:
I first saw this soon after it's DVD release and I just could not stop myself from watching it over and over and over again. It's such a beautiful movie (of course I own it so I can keep watching it hehe). Well crafted, great acting, amazing cinematography, incredible, unforgettable world. I just love it!
Synopsis:
Helena, a 15-year-old girl in a family of circus entertainers, often wishes she could run off and join real life. After a fight with her parents about her future plans, her mother falls quite ill and Helena is convinced that it is all her fault. On the eve of her mother's major surgery, she dreams that she is in a strange world with two opposing queens, bizarre creatures, and masked inhabitants. All is not well in this new world - the white queen has fallen ill and can only be restored by the MirrorMask, and it's up to Helena to find it. But as her adventures continue, she begins to wonder whether she's in a dream, or something far more sinister.
Sweetness:
If you're a fan of Neil Gaiman like I am then you'll really like this movie since he wrote the screenplay. :)

TMI (Too Much Information) by Sarah Quigley

Rating: 4.3/5
Age R: 13+
Release Date: April 16, 2009
Thoughts:
This book took me by surprise. I honestly thought it was gonna be just one of those YA novels, no offense Sarah Quigley, and I am so glad it wasn't! Now that Sarah, that girl can write and entertain. TMI made me laugh soo darn much, and not just on the inside, on the outside too. It's laugh out loud funny! I really liked it. :)
TMI is the story of a fifteen year old girl, Becca, who has a wee bit of a problem, she overshares a little too much. :) This ends up being a huge problem for her that gets in the way of her relationship with her freshmen boyfriend hehe, so she decides to turn over a new leaf. As her new year's resolution, she is going to stop being the overshare queen. Since she can't just keep all these thoughts to herself because she runs the risk of exploding (hehe), she starts a blog (!!!). She not only talks about her problems but she also creates these fantasies about her and her crush, Matt, who she'll be working with on the Grease musical. :) *I love Grease!!! She says a ton of stuff that is extremely personal and in the wrong hands ..well things could get really bad. But there's just no way someone can find it and besides she changes everyone's name including hers so there's just no way someone will find out. Or will they? Obviously you and I know someone will. You'll have to read this hugely entertaining book to find out what happens. :D
Did I say how much this book made me laugh? No? Well it made me laugh a LOT. hehe I love stuff that makes me laugh. I believe it's one of the greatest things in life, laughter I mean. :) I kinda hope there'll be a sequel even though at the same time I believe there shouldn't because a sequel to this book might not work out so well. I just really liked Becca's character, her personality, the way she talked and "wrote".
The book also made me REALLY sad at times though. I swear it's like you're there with Becca when she's "talking" about her life and the embarassing things that happen to her. You just feel so bad for her! I felt so sad for the poor girl sometimes that I thought I would cry. This is one of those books that many will relate to especially those who are "outcasts". I don't think she's an outcast I mean she has this one great friend, what more could you need?
The itty bitty problem I had with this book was that sometimes it honestly didn't seem like it was about teenagers. It seemed more like it was talking about middle school kids. Then again there were some thoughts that middle school kids just wouldn't have they just lack the hormones at that age. Either way I still really enjoyed the book and I think a bunch of others will too especially those up for a cute entertaining read.
Something I absolutely loved, besides the laughs and the 80's movies references, was that for the most part, this book was realistic. *Possible spoiler* You know how there's a ton of YA books and movies out there where there's a geeky boy or girl and they think "That guy/girl will never like me because I'm such a geek" then at the end he/she ends up with the guy/girl? Well this book was NOT like that and I loved that so much! I understand that in real life things like that do happen but when it's overly repeated it just gets freakin' boring especially since it doesn't always happen like this in real life. Sometimes the hot guy/girl really does not care for the "geek". *End of possible spoiler*

Notes: Doesn't the model from the cover look JUST like Taylor Swift except with brown hair and green eyes? Well I dont' think TS has green eyes, I don't know and I'm not looking it up, either way they look alike!! I really like that cover it's so pretty and colorful. If you notice, there are pictures referencing stuff from the book, I just love it because it's done in a really creative way, just like the book hehe

Quotes:

He hunches forward and rests his elbows on his knees, and I see a black plastic comb sticking out of his back pocket. I really envy that comb for being so close to such a fine butt.

Fire (sequel to Graceling)

So what did you guys get?

*For those wondering how long it takes me to read a book, it depends of course. But sometimes it takes me two days to read one. Not 48 hours but I have to stop often and do something like hw, babysit, etc. If it's a 200 pg book I can finish it in a few hours without stopping especially if it's one that catches my interest and keeps me entertained. Some of my friends have told me I'm a fast reader..but I don't know about that haha. I read Perks of Being a Wallflower in seven hours..I think that's pretty slow especially since it's a small book, only 224 pgs.

Gossip Girl by Cecily von Ziegesar

Rating: 3.8/5
Age R: 15+

Release Date: April 2002

Thoughts:

Gossip Girl is written from the POV of someone basically watching the IT crowd in New York's Upper East Side. She (or he who knows?) gives all the latest gossip about Serena, Nate, Blair, and Chuck. She then gives gossip on Dan and Jenny when they enter the picture.
Book 1 starts of with Serena comes back from another country she was supposedly attending. As soon as she steps foot in New York the gossip begins. Why was she gone? Was she pregnant? Did she have someone's baby?, etc. After being gone for months things have changed. Her ex-best friend Blair dumped her and now has to side kicks and is completely ignoring Serena, at least she's trying to. And what's worse is that Blair is now Nate's girlfriend. Nate, adorable Nate, the guy who may have had a thing for Serena (?). Serena was gone for a reason, it's not a happy one, so of course she had problems, but she wasn't the only one dealing with crap. She soon finds out what she has missed while she was gone and in the process makes new friends like Dan and his little sister Jenny.
I won't give anything away but there is a LOT of drama and who doesn't love that? I was reluctant to read this because I thought it was going to be one of those books you know? Indeed it was, but I found myself liking it. It really kept me entertained but not so much that if I hadn't won the whole series, I'd go out to buy the other books. It's just an okay read. Not something I would be re-reading. It's just one of those books I'd recommend if you want to be entertained for a while especially since it's short and a pretty fast read. Then again, after reading it, I was VERY curious to know what would happen next in the lives of these elite kids. I must say, it's really fascinating to read about all this drama. So I will definitely keep reading the series. I already read the next one, I had to take a break before continuing though because other books interested me more. Like I said, it's an okay series, but I will not be putting atop my tbr list anytime soon.

About the T.V show-Chace Crawford is soooo^infinity cute!! :) Yes, I'm a dork so what?
