Thoughts:
*I'm sorry it took me forever to post this even though I saw it a bit before July 29.*
I of course had to watch this movie when I first heard about it in April or so. I mean come on! Hugh Dancy!! I love him. I can't remember when I became a fan of his. I loved him in Evening, Ella Enchanted (did not like the movie but loved the book), and a few others. He's so adorable! Back to the review...
Oh what a lovely movie! This movie was directed wonderfully and it's just overall quite nifty. I'll admit at the end I was hoping they would say "just kidding!" and they would end it in a slightly different way. They didn't. Either way I was very satisfied. I highly recommend this movie. It has a bit of humor here and there (so hilarious at times) but it's also very serious. The fact that it deals with a serious subject made me love certain moments the most. I really don't want to give anything away so you'll have to watch and see for yourself.
I fell in love with Adam and you will too. He's just so great and funny but of course, like everyone else, he has his ups and downs.*Possible spoiler* The movie reminded me a bit of Pygmalion in the end because something does not happen the way you think it would but George Bernard Shaw explains why. I love, love that so much by the way which is why Pygmalion is one of my all time favorite plays. *end of possible spoilers* If you read that I don't think it would spoil anything for you but it's possible.
Please check your local listings it's possible they might still be playing it somewhere near you if not I'm so sorry!!! On the bright side you can watch it when it's out on DVD/possibly Blu-Ray or Netflix it (I'm SO addicted to Netflix!)
Favorite quote:
I can't remember it but in the beginning there's this part where the main girl, Beth, talks about The Little Prince (such a lovely book!). It starts like this:
"My favorite children's book is about a little prince who came to earth."
Then she goes on to talk about how Adam taught her about love. It's so very lovely.
