Synopsis:
Katrina works in her Grandmother's very old coffee shop in Norway hoping that they don't run out of business because of the new and organic coffee shop right next door that seems to be stealing their customers. One day she notices a homeless guy in the nearby alley. She decides to leave him some coffee covered chocolate beans. Next thing she knows an angel is bugging her because he HAS to repay her for her good deed. He has to give her what she most desires. But what is that really?
Thoughts:
Pick this book up. Now. It's CUTE. Do I need to say anything else?
I will anyway hehe
This book is somewhat of a Jack and the Giant Bean Stalk kind of story except of course with a more modern, cute twist. Other than being cute, it's a very enjoyable read that I loved and am sure you will too. It's not predictable like I kind of thought it would be. Sorry for misjudging you book! Do you forgive me? I'll pretend that you do ;) Anyway, you will fall in love with the messenger, Malcolm, and his kilt too hahaha
I liked reading about the problems poor Katrina goes through. I could relate relate to her when she had to deal with her future career. I have no idea what I'm good at so this book really made me think about that. I hope I find something. :)
Katrina and her grandmother had to deal with a lot of stressful situations and sometimes I really wanted to beat up people that were horrible to them! As you read the book you really sympathize with her. I love how writing can do that to a reader.
I loved how this book deals with everyday teenage problems, family problems, friendships, adorable messengers, fish that should not be in a tank, and tons of other fun stuff.
I really really liked this book but didn't love it. There were some things that happened in it that kept me from full on loving it. The coffeeshop vs. coffeeshop deal did not interest me at all. I know it will not bother others but it bothered me. I just kind of wanted to get back to the love story haha I liked what happened with the coffeeshops, it was neat to read but I could have done without it even though it's a big part of the book. Yeah, I'm a dork that way. I'm telling you this so you will not be like me. Don't go reading this book thinking you will get 100% love story because you won't. The back part of the book makes it seem like it will be that way which really pisses me off. I don't like it when blurbs lead you to believe the story will go one way and it doesn't, not really anyway. You will get about 80% love story. So there you go, now you know. It's still cute and worth it though I must say. :D The fact that the book made me crack up so many times I lost count does not hurt the story either.
Neato:
I LOVED how Katrina and Elizabeth met.
Not so neato:
The love story part of the book didn't seem too real to me. I loved the twists and turns dealing with that though.
Quote/s:
'He's sooo cute,' Elizabeth whispered. I usually ignored Elizabeth's declarations of "cute." WIth each boyfriendless month that passed, her standards lowered. She was dangerously close to subsituting "cute" for "alive."
