Thoughts:
Miranda is a sixteen year old living in the 16th century. She has her share of problems. Her father just died, leaving her, her mother, and brother in debt and now she has to be sent away to be taught how to be a proper wife. Not only that but it turns out she is being set up with an old guy who is EVIL. She has to find a way to free herself so now she must get on the queen's good side. Along the way she makes friends, enemies, and maybe she even ends up crushing on guys.
I love reading historical fiction and this book does disappoint. This book has tons that will make readers just fall in love with it and seriously leave you wanting more. There's backstabbing, sadness, love stories (really cute ones), beautiful dresses, knights, and cute guys.
As you read along you'll find yourself rooting for Miranda. You will want her to be happy and be free. You will also find yourself wanting her to just run away. Or is that just me? Miranda actually considered that but then she gave reasons why she couldn't and they were very understandable. I wanted to smack the queen across the face every time she showed up. That lady could be so mean! Poor Miranda and everyone else under the queen's reign. I didn't just want to hurt the queen though, I also wanted to hurt Lord Seagrave. He was an a-hole, you have no idea. Again, poor Miranda. Reading this book, you get a feel for what life was like in the 16th century for many people, especially teenage girls of course. You also really feel like you're living in that time. It's awesome. :)
I really liked the love story. I liked it a LOT. I had a bit of an issue with it though. To me, it kind of felt like it was rushed but then again I get to thinking what do you expect from people in the 16th century? Love stories back then were very different from love stories now. Even so it still feels like something's missing. I wanted to point that out even though I enjoyed reading about this love story. :)

Edit:
Yes, Miranda has a great voice. I really enjoyed reading what she was thinking since she was talking in her POV. It was fun! :)

Quote/s:
'You will have many more years to breed, and then look after me.' He laid his hand on my arm, and his clammy touch prickled so much, I cried out.

The swallows soared overhead, and with ---beside me, and the wind in my hair, at that moment, I too, felt I had grown wings.

Oh, this book does sound so cute. And I bet Miranda has a great voice. I love the covers of historical novels; they're always SO pretty. Thanks for the review! :)
