Release Date: March 2002
Sequel/s:
The second book in this series is Shrimp, then Cupcake. (I have got to read these!)
Thoughts:
I read this four years ago so my mind's a bit foggy about the story hehe I remember for sure that I really liked it though :)
Cyd Charrise(16) lives with her Mom, step dad, and half siblings in San Franciso, California and she has a great, cute surfer boyfriend called Shrimp. It's all pretty good (few problems arise) in her life (nothing as bad as her past) until she's forced to move to New York with her biological father because she gets kicked out of boarding school. The only thing she can remember of him is that he gave her the rag doll she always carries with her, Gingerbread.
You will fall in LOVE with Cyd's voice and with Rachel Cohn as well. I've only read three of her books but I KNOW I want more. :)
This book is so realistic and just plain great. So many people will be able to relate including some of the sad things that Cyd goes through :( and the good things too, including situations with boys. :D It's a really cute book that will leave you wanting more, I suggest you pick it up.
Gosh I really adored the characters and all the drama. Yes my dears, there is drama and who doesn't love that? Not only that but there are quite a bit of secrets and surprises. :)
Cool:
Loved pretty much all of it. That cover is awesome! I like the other cover too, it has a picture of a cup and really pretty green color. :)
Not so cool:
Sometimes, very, very few times it was a bit slow for me, but that might just be me. Something else I wasn't too fond of was the fact that Cyd could be so spoiled!! That's part of her character I get it, but still she made me quite upset sometimes.
